I voted for COTG. I only use a six bootlegs and that is only to round out a roster in early classics.
They are not overbearing and a couple of them have no wins at all. They will be fazed out once more wrestlers come in as I get to those years.

Bootlegs can be fun and fill a niche, but I prefer the real deal beyond any shadow of a doubt.

I voted for COTG.
In both my GWF and aCe feds, I have actually never used a bootleg. Just my personal preference.

I have hardly ever used bootlegs but in all the tournaments that I have been in with or against bootlegs...GWF is simply the best! Unless you are counting my team of Olympus and "Stunning" Steve aka Simple Perfection... ;D

I love bootlegs, but COTG will always be first in my heart.

I feel that the Bootlegs are better as it give us the fans of the card chance to make our own wrestling cards. We can be so creative at making the storyline for our bootlegs and the moves can be fun to think of good names..

Both have their place in the community...all due credit goes to Tom for creating this wonderful game and inspiring many others to carry on the legacy with creations of their own.He has sparked creativity in so many people out there. Im a big supporter of bootlegs, its no secret... but I also give just as much support to the official cards.
There are some out there that try to loudly spew propaganda about what's right and wrong with the way people run their feds in public, but in private they dont even buy into their own propaganda... sad.
Anyhow, enough said on that. Thanks to Tom for creating such a lasting (and continually improving) product, thanks to all the promoters out there that believe in sharing their creativity and ideas with others...thats just one of the things that make this game great and continue to push forth year after year.

For this Poll, CotG...Because of it's more linear metaplot, I wouldn't use any Bootlegs with it... LOW on the other hand is a different story...Pittbull currently uses the vast majority of the Official LOW cards (because he bought them), so I have no choice to use bootlegs as our Feds run semi-parallel...We've even done trades... So for my purposes, my LOW fed wouldn't exist without Bootlegs...Of course, if it matters, Pittbull's fed is also much better than mine, so.....

Yeah, it's much easier to create a good bootlege of a real life wrestler rather a COTG character. The only bootleg I ever used was Death Knight II (had him in Mad JEster's corner vs Exo King & Jack of Diamonds in Sudden Death 03-04). He fit in the storyline perfectly!!!!

I don't imagine the intent of Bootlegs is ever to replace the originals...I would NEVER run a game with only bootlegs without actually buying the product from Tom, nor would I condone such...I would like to think that everyone else would feel the same way...But, if they buy it, they love it, they make their own and like it even more, that's their call to make...They already bought the product so both sides have done their part...

Right now I only play LOW and for me it is fun to make bootlegs - as I have come up with stupid ans Awesome bootlegs for my fed. I use the LOW officials and bootlegs of hero and villain type wrestlers intermingling and such. I dont see anything wrong about it , it just adds to the game and fun.

Bootlegs are so deeply imbedded in the COTG community that I can't see how someone could be shocked by the results.
Without bootlegs I can tell you the community would not be as strong as it is today. It would probably still flourish, but the ability to be creative and create your own world rather then strictly adhere to Tom's imagination makes the game that much more apealing.
It's not like booltegging music because you're not stealing Tom's characters, you're reaching into your own mind and creating, for the most part, original characters. The official stuff deals mostly in the science fiction comic book realm. And there is a section out there that prefers a more realistic style. Among other styles that Tom may not cater to.

Hmmm, some good points in this thread so far ... from both sides. But I am shocked at the vote totals here. This is actually pretty sad. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against bootlegs at all. Its fun to get creative and think up new characters. I have come up with a lot of bootlegs over the years .... even though most of them have been "inspired" by comic books, cartoons, movies, etc. I have collected bootleg sets from a lot of other promoters too. Even though it's not for everyone, I enjoy it. And I will keep doing it. BUT ... I rarely use any of those bootleg cards. When I do find time to play, I want to use the official guys. As much as I enjoy the bootleg scene and the creativity it brings out in all of us, I kind of see it as an insult to Tom to say you prefer bootlegs over the real characters. I know I have never even made a character that could come close to anyone Tom made. Not even Sectarian.
