Man, a lot of us have similar tastes in comedy. It's so hard to pick just one of my top two and call him my absolubte favorite. It depends on my mood and what I'm in the mood to hear. BUT, like so many others on here, it's either George Carlin or Mitch Hedberg. If I have to pick one I go with carlin for longevity. He's been making me laugh since way before I should've been listening to his stuff. With Mitch, we'll never know what could've been.

Carlin at the top (though IMHO he's dropped off a bit lately; both his last book and his last HBO special were tremendous disappointments. He was awesome last time out on the Tonight Show, though. Funniest facial expressions of anybody ever.) Yeah, his recent stuff has somewhat crossed into "curmudgeon" territory, but still fairly on-point in a lot of cases. My favorite line from his Tonight Show appearance? "I never thought, when Ann Coulter came out, that I would have to move to the right." ;D

I have a sentimental attachment to Dennis Leary, particularly "No Cure for Cancer"...It affected us in a big way, most notably it gave us "Dig Dang Doo"...LONG Story, and even if I told you you probably wouldn't understand... ;D

Not picking one isn't fair!
Following the rules, though, I'm going to go with Bill Cosby. My wife and I can sit down and watch or listen to "Himself" over and over again and never get bored of it.
"So I went over to the Burger King ..."

I don't remember "Dig Dang Doo" anywhere on that album. I won't be able to quote....Oh, hold on, I found his entire CD lyrics... ;D Here it is Chris: "You know how you remember Elvis. He was found in the toilet with his pants around his ankles and his big fat hairy sweaty king of rock and roll butt exposed to the world and his final piece of kingly evidence floating in the toilet behind him! Creepy! One of his aids had to walk in and go, "Damn, Elvis is dead. I'd better flush the toilet. Oh man I should've saved that! I coulda made some money off of that! Damn man! A ding dang do!"
Guess I spelled it wrong, but 'eh...Anyway, we (as in Pittbull and I...And our friends...And friends that have moved away and spread it around other towns/cities/provinces etc...) basically use it as a "redneck exclamation" for lack of a better term... Okay, long story is unavoidable: Buncha years ago Pittbull ran a wrestling E-Fed (some have called such a thing a G-Fed), a message board where you pick a wrestler, post your promos etc. then whoever does the best promos will win in matches...You're all familiar I'm sure... One of our number chose Rick Steiner (circa. "You want some, come get some, you don't like me, bit me") and couldn't post as much for college reasons if I'm not mistaken...He posted saying "I won't be able to put as much work into my promos, but it's not like Rick Steiner says a lot anyway. It's pretty much 'You're Dead, I'll fight anybody! Ding Dang Do!' " Later on it spread into redneck territory: Such as Jamie Knoble "Aw Hell Nidia, Ding Dang Do!! ", and whenever someone revs their jacked up engine driving down the street you'll hear one of us shout "OH YEAH FIRE IT UP!! DING DANG DO!!!!!" It's pretty much taken a whole new meaning with us...but it's still funny as hell....So yeah, Denis Leary... ;D Pittbull, again may be able to expand further...

Aha. I figured it had to be some random expression after a punchline.

Ok, I have to answer this in two forms. For old school comedy and entertainment, I like the Marx Brothers. Their movies were great and were intelectually funny/visually funny at the same time Currently, as it has been for the past 8 years or so, Dane Cook is the man! SU-FI!!!

Checking into a hotel:
Groucho: What can I do for you?
Chico (pointing to himself and Harpo): We'd like to double up.
Groucho: Well, eat some green apples.
(This is the only Marx Brothers dialogue I remember, because my brother and I used to recite it to each other anytime someone said "What can I do for you?" or something similar.)

Dang, I love Newhart! Probably not in a stand up comedic sense, but in a sitcom sense! And if you ever want to know how to end a sitcom....the last episode of Newhart was the way to end it!! I just saw he turned 77 yesterday!! Wow!! That is hard to believe!!

I just saw he turned 77 yesterday!! Wow!! That is hard to believe!! I also liked Bob Newhart, especially his show ("Newhart"?) where he was the innkeeper in Vermont. I saw him perform live once in 1995 and, although many of his jokes were dated, I still thought he was hilarious.
