"it's like comparing ice cream to horse manure." Spoken like someone who doesn't know a goddamned thing about pro wrestling. Or spoken like someone who was recalling one of the biggest mark out moments of their pro wrestling watching life ... The moment when Bobby "The Brain" Hennan showed up in a taped interview on Superstars of Wrestling with the NWA World Heavyweight Title Belt draped over his shoulder. I remember not being able to believe my eyes as he stood there with a smile on his face and started talking about the real worlds champion. And I remember him saying ... "You want to compare the man that owns this belt to Hulk Hogan? ... that would be like comparing ice cream to horse manure." It was about the closest a 12 year old like myself could get to having a heart attack. Too bad the WWE botched it

Ain't no thang PH. We're cool. Unlike some people here I don't let things that are said on a wrestling forum get to me. My brother is getting married today, so I ain't got time to worry about someone's opinion of my pro wrestling knowledge.

Nope. No dirty twin sisters for me yesterday. My brother actually got married in Vegas, and I couldn't be there in person. He just told me about it last Monday and I couldn't afford a $600 flight on such short notice. I think he was just trying to get out of having to decide which of his brothers was going to be his best man.

My problem with Hollywood Hogan was during that time his matches were horrid. Especially that match between him and Sting. They spent all that time building up the match, and it turned out to be crap. CRAP! As far as Japan goes, Hogan made his name in America..thats how he'll always be looked at. A great character, a sub par wrestler. He dumbed down his in ring ability in America because he was lazy. He knew he could get away with it here in the states because American fans..are well..dumb. he could of wrestled amazing technical matches in America, and people in America would still consider him the greatest wrestler ever. He didn't have to dumb it down. He only did it because he could get away with it. Umm.... giving the people what they WANT is a bad thing? C'mon, DMK. I respect the fact that you don't like Hogan. My pal BigBri hates him, and we're still friends. But let's face it: better workrate does not equal better wrestler nor does it equal more entertaining. It may for you. That's fine. But at the end of the day, every promoter in the history of the business wants to put fannies in the seats, and have a star that keeps them coming back. Flair was great at this. Hogan was better. To the casual fan, "workrate" can be boring. I've had friends over to watch PPVs, and some of the "best" matches bored them to tears. But when Hogan comes out to "Real American" and dispatches Muhammed Hassan and Davari or RKO or whoever, the casual fan goes nuts. Whether it's "good workrate" or not, it's what people like and, more importantly, what they're willing to pay for. Hogan was good for mark out moments. I won't deny that. I was just argueing that as far as character, Hogan was better, but as a worker/wrestler, Flair was better. If anything, the masses have proven, they prefer style over substance. There really can't be a right or wrong, its a mater of opinion who was better. But both were the same in the fact that they were stubborn and refused to develope and put over the younger talent. when you're pushing 40 and your tits are starting to sag..its time to hang up the boots...neither knew when to quit. And Flair is still hanging around despite the fact that the guy looks god awful.
