If ya smell what Barack is Cooking! If he actually said that... I would register myself democrat and vote for him in the primaries. However, since Hilary would most likely would be his running mate if he wins, I will vote similarly to the way BDS roots for football teams!

Actually, I was thinking about how Huckabee might even hurt McCain as a running mate. Conventional wisdom goes that McCain would need to get the social conservatives on board. Would the social conservatives vote Hillary or Obama over McCain? I think McCain is safe there. But...would social conservatives even come out to vote at all if Huckabee wasn't on the ticket? They just might stay home otherwise, and if he's on the ticket, that will surely bring some of the social conservatives out, at least, and in the case of a key state like Ohio, that could be huge. I still say he'd be better off with Huckabee than with, say, Giuliani, although it definitely is a gamble. I have had this point raised to me on a few occasions between yesterday and today. It seems dumb to me to not vote, since that's an implicit vote for the other party, but that's just me...

I completely agree that it's dumb not to vote, since if you're a Republican, even if you don't like McCain (or whoever the candidate is in a given year), you still should be aware that they're more than likely going to appoint judges who agree with your general view of the preferable state of affairs in the country. On the state level it's easier to abstain or even cross over (as Chewey knows I did in the last Maryland gubernatorial election -- yes, I voted Repub, and yes, he lost ). But for POTUS? Nope, gotta get out there and punch the chad, touch the screen or pull the lever. No excuse not to.

It may be dumb not to vote, but its dumber that my vote for President doesn't count because I don't live in Ohio.
