I just got the 4th book in this series, Exile. Anyone reading this? I'll put up a review of the series thus far, and of Exile itself when I finish it.

Steel,
I believe the book is called, "Allegence,"
I haven't gotten Exile yet; I'll probably do so in the next few weeks. Sacrifice in June is going to be the big one though.
Take care,
Jay

It's done by Timothy Zahn. I'll wait for the paperback on that one. BTW, Zahn's last book "Outbound Flight" just came out in paperback as well for any who are interested. Rahl

Just about every SW book by Zahn is a great one.
Has anyone read the book about Darth Bane yet? I'm waiting for the paperback on that one. I usually don't get hardcovers (though I might make an exception for next year's Sidious/Plageus novel).
Take care,
Jay

I just read Allegiance. Pretty good. I've never read Zahn before actually. Mara Jade seems way to powerful in the book. There's probably a little more of her and the Stormtrooper squad in the book than Han-Leia-Luke.

Take care, Jay Yeah Jay I read Darth Bane I would recommend waiting for the paperback it was not worth buying in hardcover. Bane was the only character in the book who had any real depth. Everyone else is a little flat. Anyways finished Exile. It was very good. The whole series is shaping up to be killer so far. I just hate waiting to June for the next book Exile's story just pretty much continues the setup of Jacen's turn, and shows how much like his mother and father Ben is. Don't want to ruin anything for anyone, but if you are reading Legacy I recommend picking it up as soon as possible. Rahl

I wanted to read the Bane novel. i'm looking forward to the Plaqueis novel. I've mostly read prequel era stuff. Unfortunately when most of the post ROTJ stuff was written it was without knowledge of the prequels. So you have Luke and Leia not finding out who their mother is until 30 years later and so on. Wish i had read NJO, i was aware of it, but there's what 19 or 20 books? Now the characters are about 60! I don't know why they keep jumping 5 and 10 years ahead in time. There all gonna have to die soon.

I own all of NJO too, but my uncle is reading them right now. Maybe you could bring "Alliegance". Rahl

Well if you want a good cover for NJO without reading the entire series, I'd stick with the previous hardcover stories;
Vector Prime Balance Point Star By Star Destiny's Way Unifying Force.
Exile was pretty good; I read that recently, but the above give you the main ideas of the series.
Thanks Rahl, for the thoughts on Bane's book. I'll wait on that one.
I plan to get Exile in April, when my fiancee gives me $100 to spend in Barnes N Noble for my Birthday.
Take care,
Jay

I really enjoyed the Darth Bane book.... but you probably could wait on it.
The other option is to go to B&N and read the first chapter and decide if you "need" to read it now or if it can wait.

I just finished Exile and it was a great read. My only real gripes are that the Corrilians don't really have any heroes on their side anymore. I liked how things were split and heroes were on both sides.
My other gripe is the speculation that Jacen might be acting the way he is because of Sith poison. I hope not. I like him better when I can hate him for being a natural #$%#, not because he's being influenced by poison.
Overall a great book which leads in to Sacrifice. The speculation begins as to who the sacrifice will be...
Take care,
Jay

I try to read the Star Wars book in order. I have the first 52 books and now I am just entering the Young Jedi books. I also have picked up a few random books pre movies or fillers like Shatterpoint. The only problem I have is after I read them I sometimes feel that it was a waste of time the stories are poor and are just churned out. Am I the only one in thinking this.
I am just waiting for the Star Wars TV show in 2008 though.

I ve noticed that with Star Wars books especially the post return of the jedi ones....i havent read any of the New Jedi Order books so I wont give an opinion on those..the clone war stories are much more interesting....Darth Bane's Path of Destruction was fantastic.....I prefer Trek Novels myself....but movie wise without a doubt its Mr.Lucas' 6 films!!!
