Ted DiBiase vs Bob Sweetan 10/13/85tinyurl.com/ywrfvdThis was from Bill Watts Mid South promotion. Ted DiBiase shows once again just how exemplary he was as a heel. Bob Sweetan was a fixture in the Southwest territories and is seen here in a face role. A solid brawl. Look for the post match locker room visual at the close out.
LWPD (imagine the chances of someone like Bob Sweetan being portrayed as a top face in WWE today...sans the Mick Foley type charisma it would be highly unlikely)

WarGames was great. I guess Vince hasn't borrowed it because it wasn't HIS idea.
I love DiBiase especially in MS and Sweetan is definitely an interesting character in a fed filled with them.

Toshiaki Kawada/Akira Taue vs Big Bossman & Steve Williams 9/93tinyurl.com/2de2h7This was from All Japan. Kawada and Taue were arguably among the greatest pro wres units of all time. Steve Williams was a fixture in AJPW and Big Bossman is seen passing through. A solid King's Road style tag match. LWPD (BBM was an excellent performer...a great bump taker for a man his size who always displayed a strong work ethic and credible brawling skills...looking back at matches 'outside' of his WWF formula runs shows how much he was capable of when motivated...RIP)

Wrestlemania 2 Battle Royal 4/7/86tinyurl.com/2eeo3uThis was from the WWF at the second annual Wrestlemania PPV. This was a special attraction featuring WWF Wrestlers and NFL Superstars in a 20 man Battle Royal. A fun retro viewing. LWPD (participants included Jimbo Covert (NFL Star - Chicago Bears), Pedro Morales, Tony Atlas, Ted Arcidi, Harvey Martin (Ancienne NFL Star - Dallas Cowboys), Danny Spivey, Hillbilly Jim, King Tonga, The Iron Sheik, Ernie Holmes (Ancienne NFL Star - Pittsburgh Steelers), B. Brian Blair, Jim Brunzell, Big John Studd, Bill Fralic (NFL Star - Atlanta Falcons), Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Russ Francis (NFL Star - San Francisco 49ers), Bruno Sammartino, and William "Refrigerator" Perry (NFL Star - Chicago Bears)

Junkyard Dog vs Mr. Wrestling II 3/12/84tinyurl.com/2u6smvThis was from Bill Watts Mid South Wrestling at The Superdome. At the time the popular JYD was the North American Champion. Mr. Wrestling II is seen as a 'face slowly progressing into a heel' out of frustration. Excellent ring psychology....watch for real world confusion at the finish. LWPD (looking back Mr. Wrestling II had the perfect outfit to play the role of a grumpy frustrated aging star who took shortcuts to compete with younger competitiors...one of my favorite heel gimmicks of all time)

Tito Santana & Pedro Morales vs Al Navarro & Steve Lombardi 1985tinyurl.com/yqtlcuThis was from the WWF on their syndicated show Championship Wrestling. At the time Tito Santana was the Intercontinental Champion. Pedro Morales was a legend who was slowly being moved down the card. Navarro and Lombardi are both seen in an enhancement role. LWPD (Steve Lombardi was often said to be a graduate of the Terry Garvin School of Self Defense...an inside joke and a dubious honor to say the least)

Antonio Inoki vs Stan Hansen 9/2/77tinyurl.com/ypkje8This was from New Japan. Owner/Booker/Native Hero Antonio Inoki was the NWF World Champion. A young Stan Hansen is seen at a critical point in his development. Watch as the gaijin monster tries to take out the man who would be a pro wres immortal. A 70's style puro classic. LWPD (the 'us vs them' theme of Japanese hero vs gaijin invader was a simple yet commercially successful booking formula for many years on end...throw in subtle build up promos and basic visuals such as the playing of national anthems ritual and ringside corner representation grouped by nationionality...and the imagination sold the rest)

Hacksaw Duggan vs Krusher Kruschev 4/11/84tinyurl.com/2re2axThis was from Bill Watts Mid South Wrestling. Mid South TV Champion Krusher Kruschev was an American turned 'Communist' and 'Russian Sympathizer'...a reprehensible combo! Hacksaw Duggan is seen as the patriotic face and stand out brawler. Smash mouth action as Jim Ross and Terry Taylor call the action. LWPD (KK was played by 'man of many faces' Barry Darsow...always a credible brawler he was best known for working as Demolition Smash and Repo Man among many others)

Tito Santana vs Koko B. Ware 1/21/91tinyurl.com/29nav4This is from a WWF house show at Madison Square Garden. At the time Tito Santana was well established as a presence but was on the downside of his tenure. Koko B Ware was a popular mid card babyface who never quite broke out. This rare 'scientific match' wasn't a part of a planned program and makes for an interesting novelty viewing. LWPD (Tito Santana was one of the biggest stars of the early national expansion period and in later years segued into the role of a reliable hand and respectable player behind the scenes role...the success of his job transitions with-in and outside the business serve as an ideal to model for any aspiring wrestler)

Hulk Hogan vs Adrian Adonis 7/26/86tinyurl.com/ypohueThis was from the WWF at a house show from The Spectrum in Philadelphia. At the time Hulk Hogan was in the midst of his first run as WWF World Champion. Adrian Adonis was still one of the best working big men in the industry and is seen donning the controversial 'Adorable' gimmick. An interesting look back with even Jimmy Hart taking some bumps...RIP Adrian and Joey Marella! LWPD (back in '86 house show business was booming...it was the product of a way different structure with much different revenue streams)

Eddie Guerrero vs Villano V 12/14/98tinyurl.com/2fns74This was from WCW on Monday Night Nitro. At this point Eddie Guerrero was at the very top of his game. Villiano V was a part of the legendary rudo lucha contingent. A fun look back. LWPD (it's hard to believe this took place almost ten years ago...RIP EG)

Paul Orndorff vs Randy Savage 6/28/86tinyurl.com/36brzeThis was from the WWF at a house show in Philly. At the time Randy Savage was the Intercontinental Champion. Paul Orndorff is seen in one of his face stints. A rare match between two of the top performers in the promotion. LWPD (Savage and Orndorff...two of my all time favorites)

Hulk Hogan/Roddy Piper vs Sid Justice/Ric Flair 3/23/92tinyurl.com/2oa2ohThis was from the WWF at a house show at Madison Square Garden. At the time WM was right around the corner and this was somewhat of a teaser. Hogan and Piper seldom teamed together...which was one of the selling points of this match. Flair was the then WWF World Champion and Sid was attempting to end the reign of Hulkamainia just as so many before him had tried. A vintage pre-Attitude era program. LWPD (there were some great promos from Piper and Hogan leading into this about MSG being the 'house they built' for the WWF and their impending retirements making this event historic...well worth tracking down)

Orndorff vs Savage is always fun. Way back in the day I had a Commodore 64 and they came out with something called Micro League Wrestling. You only had the ability to pick from three matches: Hogan vs Savage Hogan vs Orndorff Savage vs Orndorff Option three was always my favorite.

Freebirds vs Junkyard Dog/Bill Wattstinyurl.com/yukqhhThis was from Bill Watts Mid South Wrestling. At the time JYD was the promotion's lead baby face and was fresh off a 'blinding' angle. His partner is none other than the boss himself. The Freebirds consisting of Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts were the guilty party...with a numerical advantage on their side will they still get their comeuppance? Look for the horrible Watts plodding one punch technique. LWPD (BW was a shrewd business man....often booking himself into the mix of tag match scenarios for his hottest programs...saving himself from the expense of another wrestler taking up a high pay out spot)

Hulk Hogan vs Magnificent Muraco 8/25/85tinyurl.com/26jey5This was from the WWF at a Chicago House Show. WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan was in his first run. A glimpse of Muraco in his prime. Watch for a very animated Oprah Winfrey on commentary duties.
LWPD (I wonder if Oprah is a current fan of the WWE product...or if VKM lost her sometime along the way)

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Perro Aguayo Jr. vs Juventud Guerrera vs El Picudo 12/3/95tinyurl.com/yqd79nThis was from Antonio Pena's AAA promotion based out of Mexico. It was formatted in two parts. First as a Parejas Incredibles match where paired enemies Rey/Juvi and Picudo/Aguayo must work together to secure a victory. Then the two team members who suffer the losing fall must face each other with the defeated wrestler losing either his hair or mask! Both RMJ and Juvi are seen at their early peaks. A young Perro Aguayo Jr. is seen at a formative stage while El Picuado serves as the experienced rudo anchor. A true lucha classic. LWPD (high stakes consequences always adds to the drama...and few pro wres traditions match up favorably to lucha libre in that respects...not to mention that mid 90's AAA was loaded with a sick roster of young talent)

The more Adonis matches I watch, the more I so want him in LOW. Finally saw that Hogan/Adonis match and Adonis even at that size bumped better than 3/4 of the roster
