Fox Sports and WEEI (the sports talk station here) are reporing its a done deal..
the T-Wolves would get Jefferson, Ratliff's contract, Gerald Green, Telfair, and next year's #1 draft pick... though there's still some debate over the details (the Fox guy said it might be Rondo, not Telfair)
thoughts?
(I'm jumping up and down in glee, myself... I love Al Jefferson, but he's not KG)

Crap. Garnett will look good in Celtics green. Pierce/Allen/Garnett? Hmmm.... if the Celts can keep Rondo, they might be in business.

Definately... as long as those three egos fit in the same arena, its looking like a good year to be a Celts fan.

I know your doing your happy dance right now, Wildfire, but it's time for a reality check. This is still the team that finished dead last in the east. 16 games back of the 8th and final play-off spot, which went to a team that only won 40 games. One guy, even a player the caliber of KG, isn't going to turn that around; particularly when Toronto is sitting on top of the Atlantic with Bosh, Ford, and Nesterovic.

Injuries are definitely a concern, but while they are healthy, they will be a force to be reckoned with. A smaller number of guys in the rotation will definitely help. Given their competition in the Atlantic, I can see these guys contending for the division title with the Nets and Raptors right away.

You can have Bosh, Ford and NEsterovic.. I'll take Pierce (who missed about 24 games last year, of which the Celts won 1), Allen and Garnett, and see ya in the finals Without adding Allen and Garnett, the Celts were gonna win 35-40 games this year just having Paul Pierce heathly... adding to superstars, and its gonna be great

I think they're holding off the official announcement until the C's work out a contract extension for Garnett.

The triumph of optimism? Not to mention that Allen has his own injury history to worry about.

Well. last year was the first time Pierce has even been injured, and its been reported widely in the Boston media he could have come back sooner if the Celtics were in the playoff race... They were extra super cautious since they had nothing to play for.
Allen I admit I'm mildly concerned about, but a can almost guarntee he'll play more than Wally Szberiak.. how can he not?
In both cases, since the Celts are giving up a good chunk of their future to win NOW, I'm making the assumption that Ainge and the other Celtics front office guys are satified about the health of both guys.
Can stuff happen? Sure, but that can happen to any team, and karma wise the Celts got way more than their fair share last year.

You’re right about Pierce. For some reason in my head I always connect him with injuries, even though he's one of the most consistently one the floor players in the league. Strange as this maybe, I think it might be because of the time he got stabbed, even though he didn't miss a single game as a result.

Yeah, he's really a gamer.. more often than not he asks to play through stuff, even though its often not worth the risk. His main problem of late has been his attitude.. hopefully having two other superstars around him will fix that.
INcidently, injury risk is a big part of why I'm not as sad as some that Al Jefferson got traded... I don't think he's tough enough to play 82 games.

I am a big KG fan and I love the trade. I think Pierce/KG/Allen are all hungry enough to make it work. Might also be a great deal for Minnesota reminiscent of Herschel Walker.

Hey Wildfire, since Rondo is from Kentucky, I was wondering how the fans up in Boston like him.
And do they still hate Ratino?

Hey Wildfire, since Rondo is from Kentucky, I was wondering how the fans up in Boston like him. And do they still hate Ratino? Well, the KG trade was held for over 2 weeks because Ainge refused to part with him... and most of the local sports talking heads agree. I expect they'll sign a vetran that will split time him though... someone like Brevin Knight or Lindsay Hunter. I think he's got great potential, he just needs to learn how to hit an open jumper. You can practice that, though, you can't practice basketball instincts, which Rondo has in spades, IMO. And yes, Celts fans still regularly curse Pitno... the one press conference where he says "Larry Bird isn't walking through that door..." is still played every so often.

BTW, its not just me that thinks this is good...
The Celts are now the FAVORITE to win the east (according to the Vegas Odds makers) at 7-2...
There's also 10-1 to win the CHAMPIONSHIP (Behind SA, DAL and PHO)
Celtic Pride is back!!

Alot of it will depend on how they fill out their roster... As of right now, they have either 7 or 8 guys under contract. I'd assume Rondo will start at point and Kendrick Perkins at Center with KG, Allen, and Pierce... Then they have Tony Allen coming back from knee surgery, who will be perfect as a defensive stopper behind Allen and Pierce, and Leon Powe, last years 2nd round pick who's a monster rebounder. If they add a good vet point guard and a good backup Center, its on

Last month I attended some games of the NBA Las Vegas Summer League including a game between the Celtics' Summer League Team and the Trailblazers' Summer League team and Rondo played and looked great. Two other members of the Celtics' Summer League team who also had a great game down here were Leon Powe and Glen "Big Baby" Davis (who I noticed lost lots of weight since I saw him play last winter for LSU) and the Celtics still have all 3 of those guys on their roster.
