I disagree! Next week's series is shaping up to be quite the important series, eh? I'm looking forward to watching my boys sweep the Crew and crush your feeble playoff dreams. Cubs magic number 1908. When it comes down to it, the Cubs suck even more than the Cardinals.

You and I both know that's not true, Havoc. Now go back to drowning your sorrows in beer and punching random people, please. Just be sure to save time to brush your tooth in there somewhere.
I hit all of the standard insults there, right?

Nah, I'm not going for joesharpie style or anything ... just wanted to make sure all of the White Sox fan stereotypes were properly represented.

History (history being the Cubs always choke) is on my side. The Brewers may only have had one playoff season in their history, but it's a much shorter history and much easier to overcome.
The Cubs are the Cubs. You can't change that fact. Sorry, I hate being the bearer of bad news. I really do.

They only held on to 1st for almost the entire season....and are 1 game back currently. "The only worse teams are Pittsburgh and Cinci"....c'mon, what sort of illogic is that? That's like saying the only teams worse than the Red Sox are the Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles and Devil Rays.

Then he'd go smoke a bong, get in his car and drive down the highway going 100 while talking to Tony LaRussa on his cell phone.

The Detroit Tigers today traded slumping outfielder Craig Monroe to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later.
My initial reaction is to say "Good luck Cubs fans, you're gonna need it" because C-Mo has been God-awful this season.
But maybe, hopefully, a change of scenery will help and Craig can get his stroke back. He was one of the Tigers best clutch hitters last season.

Outstanding! I'll actually take his all-pop and nothing-else bat in the lineup. He'll slot right into RF or be one of the big guys off of the bench. Either way, we were needing some power, and I'm happy to have him on board - especially at the cost of a bag of used balls.

Should be a good race down the stretch... I think the key is which of the three teams (St. Louis is only 3 out) are able to beat up on the crappy teams more... Chi has 15 games again the other Central Teams (Hou/Cin/Pit), Stl. 16, and Mil 12.
They also all have a series left against each other, which will be exciting.
I big key for the Brewers could be how San Diego does.. they finish with 4 against the Padres... if SD is already in by then, they could see alot of rookies and have a nice ending, but if the Padres are still fighting for a spot, it'll hurt.. neither Chi or St. Louis plays them again.

Cubs aquired Craig Monroe. He is awesome. You got a great player despite what the "what have you done for me lately" fans in Detroit say about him. I wish him the best.

The rumor is that the PTBNL in the Monroe trade is a lefty reliever on the 40-man roster. That means Scott Eyre, Clay Rapada, or Will Ohman by my count. My guess would be Ohman - he pretty much talked his way out of Chicago when he got sent down to the minors.
