ABC announced Friday that it has given a pilot order to a comedy series based on the cavemen characters from the recent Geico promotional campaign.
The show, entitled “Cavemen,” focuses on the characters as they “struggle with prejudice on a daily basis as they strive to live the lives of normal thirty-somethings in 2007 Atlanta.”
According to ABC, the copywriter who created the “even a caveman could do it” campaign will pen the pilot

Oh I'm sorry I though I had already woken up today but after reading this I am clearly still dreaming!!!!! When does it start? You're kidding right? The caveman jokes will dry up really quick. This would only be good as a recurring SNL sketch but that was already (well) done years ago with Caveman lawyer

I will watch the first episode as I am already looking forward to it. Those commercials crack me up everytime. I made a Geico Caveman bootleg card so you know I'm a fan.

Oh I'm sorry I though I had already woken up today but after reading this I am clearly still dreaming!!!!! When does it start? No clue or even if he pilot will be picked up by ABC or any other channel. Just read this and had to post it here ya know with the whole Geico Cavemen bootlegs I read about it on www.headlineplanet.com/home/but my thinking is if it is written by the guy who writes the commericals he may have a problem with 20 minutes worth of air time. I love the commericals I think they are hilarious but the plot might become stale. But plots might be mute I mean Seinfeld went on for years If it is picked up I will watch it check it out though. They made a show out of the Quizno's baby that sucked royal so hope this can learn lessons of what not to do.

If this is done totally deadpan...IE no laughtrack, serious plots (for a sitcom) and all like that...and they don't explain WHY there are cavemen in modern times....it could be brilliant.

I agree 100% with those conditions, especially the laugh track. I love the commercials too....and while I'm worried a series format could be too much of a good thing, I'm all for giving this one a shot.

I think a Caveman series would be alright. But then again I am a sucker for things prehistoric. Also... They made a show out of the Quizno's baby that sucked royal so hope this can learn lessons of what not to do. When did I sleep through this? Big Time

And if they air new Geico Caveman commercials during the show, you won't even realize you're watching a commercial! A brilliant piece of advertising genius!

Actually "Baby Bob" was a pitchman for some online company. Then ABC greenlit a series about the talking baby and his mother. It didn't last long. Then he became a pitchman for Quiznos.

The show could be very interesting or it could be a disaster. Depends on how well written it is. Heck 3rd Rock managed to pull off aliens on earth for a while without stretching it too thin. (Not thru the whole show...but the first 4 seasons were good)

Man I loved 3rd Rock From the Sun for the first few seaons. It really fell off the map after that, but it was really solid when it first came out.

Sounds like the worst idea for a TV show ever. Although the Geico commercials are amusing.
Who knows. Maybe I'll check it out.

Yeah ...... um ........ huh.
I really hope they come up with better stuff than this. Otherwise watching this sitcom will be like watching one of the SNL skits that started out kind of amusing, but then went on about 10 minutes too long. You know the ones I'm talking about, where you actually feel bad for the actors?

Well at least it's a sitcom and not some dance show.
