I have never wanted to see another movie more. As a fan of the Dragonlance novels since the late 80's I have always wished it be a motion picture. My wish is granted! Coming in Autumn 2007 an animated film starring the voice talents of Kiefer Sutherland, James Marsden & Lucy Lawless.. It sucks that alot of the greatness that happened in the novel will have to be cut out due to time BUT PLEASE GO SEE IT only way there will be a Dragons of a Winter Night & a Dragons of a Spring Dawning is if this movie makes Paramount and its partners cash! To read more and see sample art go to: www.dragonlance-movie.comThis story is in my opinion the greatest story ever told and I hope the film can do it some justice!

I've read Dragons of Autumn Twilight. I need to go out and find the other two and read them to complete the trilogy. I also owned the 2nd edition D&D campaign books which unfortunately, I never got to use. I no longer play D&D or Rpgs, I've sorta grown up from that.

YES you def need to read the other 2 books! They are outstanding! I have always wanted to get into the RPG campaigns & played D&D previously when I was younger but sorta grew out of it too.

I've read one other D&D book besides DoAT and I actually can't remember the name right now. it started with an H. The title was the name of the main character.
It was about a knight who befriended a dragon or something..damn..I can't remember.
Anyway, I recall the book being very good.

This is awesome. Too bad it took so long and is animated. Read the triology twice and have read almost every other book Weis and Hickman have written.

I also would prefer it to be live action but understand and don't mind it being animated. I JUST WANT THIS D**N MOVIE! LOL - but AMEN on it taking too long! I too have read all Dragonlance books written by Weis and Hickman as well as the Chaos War the Great Dragons by Rabe and countless others. The World of Krynn just always peaks my imagination. I just hope that they don't have to hack up the story so much to get it in the timeframe missing out on countless important plot points.

For some reason, I like the Forgotten Realms stuff more than Dragonlance, but this is definately a fantasy classic and should make a great movie... Weis and Hickman practically turned my little 12 year old brain on to Fantasy (my dad scoffed at it, so I didn't get much exposure)... the Darksword trilogy still ranks among my favorite all time series (Although the 4th book they tacked on much later was very dissappointing)

I enjoy the FR stuff more, but I will definitely be on board for this.

I knew alot of people who prefered FR. I dunno I just thought the world of Krynn was untouchable. Besides the Chronicles I found immense enjoyment out of the Chaos War. That series of books were very well done.

All of the Weis and Hickman books were very well done. They certainly helped push the DnD product from some kind of Friday night Satanic ritual done in a basement to something more approachable, inviting and familiar.

Yes it did Turk! Your post reminded me of an old movie might have been called Dungeons and Dragons but I don't starring I forget who being about I forget what LOL All I remember is a guy who was crazy who thought he was living in like a Dungeons and Dragons fantasy land.... anybody out there that can help? It is pretty old so maybe an old timer out there can help me out :-) ? I would love to see it again. OH and yes Weis and Hickman books are without a doubt the best but Rabe books were cool and Richard Knaak did some great books about the Minotaurs and Dan Parkinson the same with the Dwarfs I would recommend them!

I'm in agreement with theringmaster. I was a huge fan of Dragonlance. I remember reading Dragons of Autumn Twilight for the first time in my parents car coming back from Tennesse. These books got me into reading especially fantasy. I'm looking forward to the movie.
