I'm not entirely sure if anybody on this board listens to same kind of music I do, but I'm assuming there are a few on here who share my taste in music so I thought I'd bring up Glass Casket's sophmore album A Desperate Man's Diary.
I just picked it up not more then 3 days ago and I've been more then pleased. GC lost two of their members to BTBAM for their album "Alaska" and I had assumed (like many others) that GC was done for. But they've returned for this album and I must say...amazing Technical Death Metal / Metalcore hyrbid. Not as much Metalcore on this album as the last, but the more streamlined tech death approach is more then welcomed as I am a big fan of the tech metal/grindcore scene. That means less high end screams and more of the low end growls that the kids seem to love so much these days.
These days with the metal genres being blended so badly, it's hard to catagorize it anymore. But I can see Glass Casket possibly becoming one of the big innovators in the metalcore / tech metal scene and, much like Slayer and Metallica did, take an entire genre on their back and make it their own. Not sure if they've hit their peek yet with this one but I'll eagerly await their next album with the confidence that it may very well be their Ride the Lightning.
FAVORITE TRACKS : Redeemer, Post Traumatic Death, and Too Scared to Live
I also picked up Hellchild's Bareskin album and I was blown away. These guys are a Japanese metal band, and if you're into extreme metal, it doesn't get more brutal then this. The Lyrics are all in english and not bad consideirng it's their second language. These guys are the best band you've never heard of.
Also, the new Slayer Album Christ Illusion is very solid. Their best release since the Reign/Seasons/South of Heaven trilogy.
