Apparently the creator of this thread died too...
Loved Palance in one of the best movies of all time - Young Guns.
Edit: saw in another thread that this was neilybob who started the thread...hmm

RIP.
And I fully agree with what Matt said about Young Guns. I remember seeing Young Guns when it came out in the theater and I also recently got the special edition DVD for Young Guns which includes a trivia track at the bottom of the screen. The town of Lincoln is still standing in New Mexico and I might drive my truck over there in the Spring- it is only about a day away from here in Sin City.

There's really not much there. I went to the two museums in town, but unfortunately the Fort was closed. Cool that I've been there, though, but nothing to really draw me back there.

That sucks that Fort Sumter was closed when you went. I have a friend in Santa Fe who I want to go visit sometime next year so I thought while I was over there I might just make the drive south and check out Lincoln. Other people have told me similar things that Lincoln (sort of like Tombstone in Arizona) is worth visiting once but after that there's not really a reason to return.

It does suck about Fort Sumter, because the sign clearly indicated that the place should have been open, but it was not. Also had to wait 15 minutes for the Billy the Kid Museum operator to arrive...serves me right for showing up at opening. But seeing the actual tombstone (well the actual, replica tombstone anyway) is really, really cool. I've been pretty fascinated with Billy since seeing the movie. Even did a research paper on him in high school.
