Just got back from seeing Bob Dylan and the Foo Fighters at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Bobby D. can still bring it, and he was pretty impressive to see live. I do have a few complaints though. First of all, the first 4 or 5 songs he played were all kind of country ballads. They all honestly sounded alike. After the 5th song, I turned to my cousin and said "that was just one loooooong song."
Also, he was never the easiest guy to understand, but it's definitely gotten worse over time. He has to be at least in his mid 60s now and I found myself unable to decipher 90% of what he was singing about. Luckily the music kicked ass!!!
I also wish he would have interacted with the crowd a little more. The ONLY time he talked or said anything to the audience was when he introduced the band ... and that only took him about 10 seconds. Not even a "thank you Detroit" or anything at the end. But I guess if you're Bob Dylan and you've spent 40 some years in the business you can do whatever you want.
Overall though it was a good experience. He played a newer version of "Rolling Stone" that blew me away, and obviously ended with "All Along the Watchtower," which sounded great from where we were sitting (8 rows back baby!!!)
Oh, and if you are even a remote fan of the Foo Fighters, I would definitely recommend seeing them on their acoustic tour. They sounded incredible!
