After watching the 3rd Xmen installment I found myself a bit disappointed. And although I'm sure it will never happen, I'd love to see a second Xmen trilogy. The 3d movie definitely leaves it open as a possibility.
They could retcon Jean and Scott's death. Assuming that like in the comics, the Pheonix was not really Jean, but a psychic manifestation. And that somehow both Jean and Scott are cocooned under Alkalie(sp?) lake.
I'd assume they'd have to recast some of the characters. I don't find that to be much of a problem though.

Well, at least there are Magneto & Wolverine spin offs. I'd love to have seen at least six movies though....The X universe deserves it!

I think it'd be cool if they got Joss Whedon to do one/some...his Astonishing X-Men run is almost up and it's WAY popular....
Didn't know about the Magneto movie though...I'm assuming Ian MacKellan and Patrick Stewart..?

Just read where Hugh Jackman is the star (obviously) and producer of the Wolverine spinoff. He said he is looking at a 2008 release.

I do think that there will be more X men movies- perhaps with different players, though.
As for specific characters:
We never saw Cyclops die- only what we were left to assume. This invokes the famous "NO Body, No Death" rule.
Second, Jean became the Phoenix They are reborn form their own ashes. Easy enough for a wrtie to pen and moviegoers to eat up.

No doubt...when you see the kind of box office numbers the X franchise does...it would be kind of hard not to do another.
Personally, the Wolverine movie may be decent, but the Magneto one would seem boring

you would think it would be hard to frell up an X-Men movie...Only thing I'm concerned with is that they seem to be getting weaker... Honestly, I think they need Whedon..

They need to bring in Glenn Danzig as the short, ugly, and hairy Wolverine...instead of using a Hollywood hearththrob to play him. I haven't seen all the movies, only the second one, and I didn't like it. They tried too hard to make the X-Men "hip" and for me it was just not good like the comics.

Didn't know about the Magneto movie though...I'm assuming Ian MacKellan and Patrick Stewart..? Whedon's stuff is way popular... ...but it kinda sucks. It was witty dialogue...but the stories themselves are WEAK and full of plotholes. Gotta disagree here. Jackman wasn't a Hollywood heartthrob when he got cast as Wolverine. He was a virtual unknown that completely nailed the part. I have my doubts about Danzig being able to be anything other than short, hairy and ugly.

I was thinking Danzig too before the first movie came out, but mostly because Wizard Magazine (fantasy) cast him. They did get Patrick Stewart right though. After the first movie, I was really glad they went with Jackman. I don't think Danzig would have worked at all.

I only said Jackman was a "hearththrob" because my sister had some romantic comedy that he starred in. I really don't know much about the guy, but I was not a fan of his version of Wolverine.
Danzig seemed like the perfect choice to me because he was short, ugly, and muscular. I mean, do we really need him to act? He could just grunt a lot and scratch himself... would be perfect.

Yeah but Danzig got his ass beat in a backstage fight with some guy from Exhorder or something.
And he wanted to play Wolvie, but he just wanted all blood and guts- while that mat have been more true to the character, satisfying the small population who are diehard Wolverine fans does not make a blockbuster movie.
Danzig is a friggin loon anyway.

Everything you say is true. I'm not a diehard Wolverine fan, I just don't think Jackman is a good portrayal. They did hit the nail on the head with Professor X... that one was kind of a no-brainer. Most of the rest of the cast I just don't get.

I wasn't fond of a lot of the casting. I did like Patrick Stewart as Prof and I liked a couple others but there were a lot more misses than hits.

Ian Mckellen rules as Magneto.
Almost as good as Stewart/ Prof X
