I was wondering if there were any other Social D fans on this board!
Social Distortion is easily my favorite band and I have been listening to them for almost 20 years now (but they started back in the 1970s!). Because Sin City is so close to Los Angeles, I actually get to see Social Distortion more often then most- they were here for three straight days in February at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay casino on the Strip and I got to see them then. I also have tickets to see them on July 3 here in Sin City at a holiday festival called Red, White, and Boom (Flogging Molly is also on the card) AND I actually also have tickets to see them a few days later in my old home- the Pacific Northwest- that very same week.!
I have probably seen over 20 Social Distortion concerts in my lifetime and I wanted to know if any other members on this board also liked them.
Also , if there are any other Social D fans, what songs do you like?
I personally like most of them but, off the top of my head, my favorite Social D songs are (in no particular order) Ball and Chain, She's a Knockout, Making Believe, Ring of Fire, King of Fools, I Wasn't Born to Follow, Don't Drag Me Down, Prison Bound, Telling Them, Nickels and Dimes, Reach for the Sky, Highay 101, Don't Take Me for Granted, When She Begins, Bad Luck, Mommy's Little Monster, Let It Me Be Me, So Far Away, Sick Boys, I Was Wrong, Diamond in the Rough, and I Won't Run No More.

Social Distortion is punk rock from Southern California in the late 1970s which is real close to Sin City. But some of their songs are covers of country music (such as Ring of Fire which was originally done by "the man in black" Johnny Cash).

I Love Social D!!
I had an opportunity to see them in Orlando and missed it... i still kick myself for it!
My buddies went... while Ness and co. were playing, my friend leans over and says to this guy standing next to him "Now Thats a preformer..." . The guy looks at him kinda funny and walks off...it wasnt until later that they realized the "guy" was one of those kids from Nsync... hah hah hah

Social D has long been one of my favorite bands, and now my son is getting into them too! He loves the "Sex, Love and Rock n' Roll" CD, especially "Angel's WIngs". I agree with Matt that "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" is my favorite Social D CD, but they all are great.
Have any of you checked out Mike Ness's solo albums? I really like both of them, but they're kind of different than the Social D style. A lot more old school country/rockabilly sounding. When you listen to the lyrics, you realize it's the exact same stuff Social D has always been singing about.
Unfortunately, I've never been able to see them live. I envy you SV, as it seems they play Vegas often.

Have any of you checked out Mike Ness's solo albums? I have both "Cheating at Solitaire" and "Under the Influences." Back in 1999, I saw Mike Ness on tour (minus the rest of Social D) for "Cheating at Solitaire" at this bar/ night club. That night Mike Ness also played a few regular Social Distortion songs such as Ring of Fire and Ball and Chain but that night they were done more in the old school country/rockabilly style that you were referring to Chad rather than the versions on the Social Distortion albums. Hopefully Mike Ness will make another solo album some day.

I like Social Distortion as well. I saw them back in 98 touring for White Light...White Heat... White Trash at Bogarts in Cincinnati. They kicked a$$ on stage. I'm a big fan of: I Was Wrong, Angel's Wings, Don't Drag Me Down, Ring of Fire, and Ball and Chain.

MIKE NESS is Social D! They've been one of my all time favorite bands, they are one of the best punk bands ever, but thats my opinion.
Another group who had a start in the punk rock area was Big Country's Stuart Adamson, he played in the SKIDS.
Anyway Social D rocks!

I just heard the new Social Distortion song "Far Behind" on the radio and it is awesome! That new song is supposed to be included on Social Distortion's upcoming Greatest Hits release in June and on Social Distortion's new upcoming album that I read yesterday is tentatively scheduled to be released on October 15- hopefully that won't get pushed back.
I also just bought a ticket to see Social Distortion when they play at Bakesfield just a couple of hours west of here in Las Vegas in July.

I only know of Don't Drag Me Down, which is a great song. I heard of it through a manga called Bleach. For the bios of one of the characters, the author said that his theme song was this. I don't know if it was just added in for the English adaption, but it would be pretty cool if this is his original song from the Japanese adaption.

Saw SD again a couple of weeks ago, Mr. Vegas. They played one or two new songs but they were hard to hear. (The place I saw them at isn't always known for having the best sound.) However, they put on a great show and Mike Ness always tears it up out there. They played the "Six More Miles" cover from his solo CD, and an older blues song. Can't wait for the new CD to come out. I saw the track listing for the Greatest Hits, but it's really hard to pick out just a few songs from their catalog and put them on a comp, you know?

Chad, That's cool that you got to see Social Distortion again- isn't that twice now that you've been able to see them within the past year? I am also really looking forward to the greatest hits album next month. It probably should have been a 2 disc release. The new song on it "Far Behind" I've heard on the radio and it might actually be one of my favorite songs ever by Social Distortion- it is a also a great sign for Social Distortion's upcoming new album that gets released later this year as "Far Behind," "I Can't Run No More," and "Diamond in the Rough" (another awesome song that I heard them play at the Hard Rock here in Las Vegas back in 2005) are all supposed to be among the new songs on it.

Yes, I saw them in KC on Halloween and again on May 2. They still have I Hate Kate opening for them, they're a pretty good band. Can't remember the first opener's name, but I didn't care for them too much. Maybe I'll like the new single better on CD, it was very difficult to hear live. A two CD retrospective is a must for SD!

This is Social Distortion's new song "Far Behind" that just started playing on the radio a couple of weeks ago and is going to be included on both their Greatets Hits album in June and their new album that comes out later this year. I personally think it sounds a little better on the radio, but it still comes out good here:

On Monday night I saw Social Distortion at The Dome in Bakersfield. Although it was about 150 degrees inside that place, one of the best shows that I've ever seen from probably my personal favorite band.
In additon to playing alot of their greatest hits such as "Reach for the Sky, "Ball and Chain," "Ring of Fire," "Prison Bound," and "Bad Luck," they also played some songs such as "When She Begins" that I hadn't heard for awhile. They also played some of their new songs that are supposed to be included on their upcoming next album such as "Far Behind" (which is also on their greatest hits album released last month) and "Bakersfield."
