Tonight I saw a "documentary" of a place here in Louisville called Waverly Hills Sanatorium on the Sci Fi Channel (was two hours long).
The place was built on the outskirts (at the time) of Jefferson Co in Louisville on a huge hill in the 1920s to house tuberculosis and later mental patients until 1981. They say there was all kinds of weird experiments and there were so many deaths, they had an underground body chute made so they could keep taking the bodies out.
You used to be able to see it towering over the road while going down Dixie Highway, but now trees have pretty much grown over it.
We used to sneak around all the time up there when we were teens. There is some crazy stuff that goes on up there, although in recent years it's been tamed down (wayyyyy down). They now have Haunted Houses up there, tours, etc. We refuse to do those because we like to remember the place before it became tame. And yes, we used to go thru the body chute all the time!
One night, we stumbled upon a bunch of people in the forest behind the hospital, sitting around a fire, in robes doing these chants. Can't say they were devil worshipers, but it was sure a strange site.
Also, there was a huge log blocking the drive about half way up the hill to keep people from driving up. A bunch of us were walking up there one night and someone in black jumped up from behind that log...and you want to talk about scared!! Our one friend pissed his pants. Now it could have been a friend playing a trick, but we didn't stick around.
Does anyone have any of these places where you live? We have a few places in Louisville.
One is a place called the trussles, which is a train track that goes over a deep gorge. Teens walk across all the time, trying to beat the train going over. There is a "being" called the Goatman and if you see him while on the tracks, you'll get killed.
There is another called Hot Rod Haven, a huge winding road that people used to drag race thru, so you know there are some deaths there. There are several legends there as well. If you see an old woman hitchhiking, you have to pick her up because she's a witch. Another, a black truck with lights out...if you see it, you'll crash. There are three devils on three thru there...it you look at all three...you'll die in a crash. There is also a huge graveyard which has a bunch of stories as well. I got some stories about that as well...but I have a meeting to get to!
