Avi Arad let this little known Spider Man movie tidbit out of the bag:
iF: There are four villains this time, Venom, Sandman, and Green Goblin and when is the fourth going to be revealed?
ARAD: Right we have four villains. Pretty soon [we'll reveal the fourth villain] I believe. Maybe around Comic Con we'll reveal something and the madness will begin.(courtesy Superherohype.com)
So, who's villain number four? Lizard seems like the obvious choice, but there's also a great possibility for the return of the green Goblin, the debut of Rhino or the first appearance of Carnage.
What do you think?

I've heard of a few people who stated they should have Spidey fighting some of his "lesser known" villains in cameo's, like Rhino or people like that. Just have a montage of Spidey capturing villains and bad guys, kinda like in part 1, and maybe throw in a couple of major villains. Just have like Spidey wrap up Rhino in a web or having have Scorpion hanging upside down from a street light by webs. Nothing major, just about a 10 second cameo for a couple of Spidey villians...would wet many fan boys appetites.

Four villains?!? With three (at LEAST two) having to be introduced in this film? That does have trainwreck potential.

Looking on IMDB right now, on their list of actors and who they play, they have Curt Conners/ The Lizard listed (which makes sense to me since Conners was introduced last time, rooting for Lizard). Also, I swear I remember seeing Jameson's son/ Manwolf listed a few months back (or maybe I saw it on the board in an old discussion). I remember something about him coming back from a trip in space and that was how the symbiote got to earth or something. I hope they do a cameo montage. Also would be neat if Harry turned Goblin and rounded up five other guys to give Spidey the Sinister Six treatment. Each villian wouldn't need full backstory development so four villians could work. I don't see Sandman needing quite as much build up as they gave Dock Ock (plus this is Sam Raimi here, not Joel Shumacker).

They basically said there will only be three films, right? Because I was kinda thinking that they would build to the Sinister Six...this sounds like that might have been the plan, but they're figuring "Crap, better do it now."

I'd be majorly disappointed if Scorpion was regarded as a minor villian. He used to beat the crap out of Spidey.

Well, for us fan boys, he's a major villians. But I was talking more on a major scope. Everyone knows Green Goblin and Doc Ock.
But to get any extra villians in it...i'm happy! Even in a cameo!

Marvel has always maintained that they will treat Spidey like James Bond; they will make Spiderman films until they no longer make money.

Ah...I thought they had first said six films, then later said three.

I had heard a few people in the Marvel circle discuss a three movie arc, but Avi Arad has always insisted that the Spiderman show would go on. Sam Raimi has also discussed plans for future movies (plural).
I have the feeling that our fourth villain isn't going to be a small timer or last minute addition to the roster. He (or she - I've heard Chloe Sevigny has been approached about playing a rather ruthless Black Cat in an upcoming film) may even be carried over from this film to the next.

Sevigny as Black Cat?! Well, I guess if we're to be expected to buy Dunst as MJ, we can buy that...=P

Yes; Spiderman is rapidly becoming the safehouse for homely actresses.

(or she - I've heard Chloe Sevigny has been approached about playing a rather ruthless Black Cat in an upcoming film) Black Cat would have been my choice, doubling as a rival love interest, but Lizard seems likely as well given the other eveidence.
