I just wanted to be the first one to do that today. See No Evil opens at theaters today and I am definitely going to check it out this weekend. This is the kind of movie I'd go see regardless of who was involved, but it'll be interesting to see what the WWe can do with a budget and a wide theatrical release. If this thing bombs their other films may be in trouble, too.
Who else is going this weekend?

I just have a sinking feeling it's going to be bottom of the barrel. That's the kind of movie I'll see 2nd run.
Plus, waiting for X Men next week.
I'll make a prediction...with the Di Vinci Code and Over the Hedge coming out this weekend....I bet it'll make less than $3 mil. (and that is generous)

I will say one thing though...at least a horror movie usually doesn't need a big name to fill seats. A project like Cena's "The Marine" will definitely show how big his star power really is.

I believe "See No Evil" will attain a cult status as a bad horror movie that you just gotta watch for the unintentional laughs(like Slumber Party Massacre and Prom Night). Some of the best comedies are horror films

Parents will be going to see over the hedge....Anyone over 20 (going out sans kids) will be going to the Da Vinci Code...but those 12 to 20 year olds need something to watch, and something tells me that a talky suspense movie about the Holy Grail ain't gonna be it.
I don't think it'll be a blockbuster, but it will turn a profit...on DVD at the very least.

I believe "See No Evil" will attain a cult status as a bad horror movie that you just gotta watch for the unintentional laughs(like Slumber Party Massacre and Prom Night). Some of the best comedies are horror films maybe each May 19, they can have midnight showings...ala Rocky Horror Picture show! But personally, I think they should have released it earlier, perhaps around Wrestlemania time. It's beendone filming for quite a while. This way, they could have built it around a theme during WM (having more people watching WM...thus knowing more about the movie) and avoided the summer blockbusters. A movie like this will get trampled by summer blockbusters. DaVinci, X Men, Over the Hedge....I don't think it'll stand a chance.

With all due respect, Da Vinci Code and Over The Hedge don't attract the same audiance as each other, much less that of See No Evil. It is not likely that one's success will take away from the other. Also, true horror movies (not to be confused with it's lame cousin, the "scary movie") do tend to do well on opening weekend as was pointed out, regardless of star power. Add the WWe's built in audiance and I don't think this movie will do too badly this weekend. I actually like a bad horror movie as much as a good one, if they're bad in the right way, so I'm sure this film will have something worth paying to see either way.
The Marine, on the other hand, the WWe may be wise to release on DVD only. It was finished well before See No Evil and they've elected not to release it yet, so that may end up being the route they take.

I do hope your right, but only for Glen Jacobs case. I would love to see it succeed for his sake because he's one of those guys you never hear any trouble from and everyone speaks positive of. I do wish him luck

LOL Funny stuff offspring. If your going by his storyline he was a victim of a fire he set that caused his family to die. Anyway just went and saw See No Evil. It's a fun horror film that deserves decent box office profit. The theather I went to was about 70 percent full. However I went to the 10:55pm showing of the movie. Anyway if you love horror movies this was awesome. Just how gritty and going "OWW THAT GOTTA HURT!" made me love this film. Is it cult classic material I'm not sure. But a fun movie never the less.

I saw the movie today and I objectively can say that it compares favorably to other horror movies of the last five or six years. I'd personally only rank Devil's Rejects above it and say it blows away crap like Jeepers Creepers. The beginning falls flat in introducing somewhat one-dimensional fodder for Jacob Goodnight's killing spree, much in the tradition of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 90 percent of the genre movies that followed. Once the action gets going it does not relent until the end.
Like I wrote in another thread, it's going to be hard to determine which reviewers and critics are simply bashing the movie because of the WWe and Kane's involvment and which are giving an unbiased opinion. I have seen reviews running the gammut from postive to downright ludicrously negitive. My advice is to go check it out if your a fan of the mindless horror genre or just a big fan of Kane and the WWe. Either way, don't let the critics cloud your judgement or sway your decision.
