I think the last great show they had was Lindsay Lohen towards the end of the 2004 season (Debbie Downer, Harry Potter skit)
Last season was bad and so far, this season has been mediocre.
I know it gets bad every so often, like wrestling, so I expect SNL to go on a 3-4 down period.

I personally haven't watched SNL since the Mike Myers and Dana Carvey left the show and took the Wayne's World characters with them.

Everyone's favorite SNL moment was when they personally started watching it. There's so much churn in the casting that the establishment can continue even though the players change. It's not a show dependent on the stars that play in it.
I started watching in the early 1990s, so those were my favorite times, though the 1995-1996 season was hilarious. Since then, I haven't liked SNL.

My favorite skit was Tim Meadows as a late-night talk show host discussing Jackie Robinson's impact on baseball and society with Tracy Morgan, who portrayed a MLB player.

I think it hasn't gotten way too political in recent years, that's why I've stopped watching it.

I think the show has been awful for at least a decade now. It's gotten far too political as well.

You're right about the political. Every week, me and the wife cringe when they have their Bush skit on to open the show.
Comedy's easy when it's political. OKay, Clinton is a perv/glory hog, Bush is dumb...been there, done that.
Real comedy is coming up with something fresh. The last great show that really made me laugh was Lindsay Lohen's show at the end of the 2004 season with the 1st Debbie Downer and the Harry Potter skit. That was a year and a half ago. Debbie Downer has already jumped the shark....they try to force it.

The skit from last season, I believe, with young Kerry, young Bush, young Clinton and young Hillary in the bar is one of the best ever. I also enjoyed Will Ferrell's President Bush and Norm McDonald's Bob Dole.
