For those that haven't heard there is a new Rocky movie in the works starring Sylvester Stallone as a 60 year old boxer
I don't know about this.Stallone is to old for this and I don't think we need another Rocky movie
On his side note his wife Addrian is dead in the movie

I think they may be stretching it a bit. At least in the last one, he trained the up and commer.
BTW, I remember the first Rocky when I was like 5. I'm going to be a man and admit it....did anyone else cry when he lost? Gosh, I was soooo pumped to see that and he lost!!!

Read a rumor on Maxboxing.com and they said Roy Jones Jr was Stallone's top choice to play Mason "The Line" Dixon. Dixon is suppose to be the current champ who calls out Rocky as he is just taking smaller fights.
Kind of skeptical about this movie, I loved the first four, fifth wasn't too great, i've read he said he is going back to the grit of the originals but I just dont see this movie coming off as anything other than hokey.

This will suck. Stallone needs to take his hair dye and fake tan and call it a career. Rocky V was a huge letdown. Shouldn't that have told him something? I actually like Sly in dramatic non-Rocky roles. I almost feel sorry for the guy.

I'm a huge Rocky fan, and I actually liked all 5 movies (maybe 5 was special to me because it came out on my birthday, and because I loved the street fight at the end.).
Anyways, I read a little on Slyls mags in the store about it, and for once, I'm not too thrilled about it. It just doesn't seem to have the magic of the other 4 or 5 (depending on your point of view).
As for Adrian dying (spoiler, I guess), the first scene of the movie takes place with Rocky and Paulie at her grave. Talk about a dark beginning!

i thought it would have been great....if Rocky would have been training his son to become the World Champion.
I mean, think about it. This would be Rocky coming full circle....street hoodlum to world champion to US Hero to Common Man to Father of the Champion.
But, maybe that is just me....

Would have been a good idea Myth, but as long as they didn't get his real son to play him....a real boxer though

Adrian was always Rocky's 'voice of reason.' And Talia Shire is a WAY better actor/actress than anyone that has ever been in any of the Rocky movies. This is Sly and Hollywood just going to the well one too many times to make a buck. Sad and depressing that nobody can come up with original stuff anymore.

Actually...I have heard that both Stallone and Arnold are joining forces for a Super-Sequel.....Cobrando. Both Stallone's Cobra and Arnolds Commander join forces to fight an evil drug lord who takes Stallone's ex-wife prisoner, all while Arnold is attempting to run for president...

I didn't mind Rocky V as much as many- I liked the concept of him training an up-and-comer like Tommy "The Machine" Gunn. I wouldn't have minded Rocky VI being about his son training to be a boxer..... but it will be interesting to see what Stallone does with this. I hope that he does a good writing job- because this will either be a Larry Holmes comeback (not notable at all) or it could be like Foreman's first comeback (shockingly cool).
That being said, no Talia Shire is a HUGE disappointment. Like Gatekeeper said, she was absolutely the best acting talent in the franchise, and she always managed to make scenes that could have come off as really hokey into great ones... think Rocky II when she comes out of the coma and tells Rocky to win- that could have been the hokiest ever, but instead was good.... and at the end after Rocky wins ("YO Adrian.... I DID IT!") she once again gives the scene weight with her performance.
I'm not saying the writing of those scenes was bad..... but it took a special actress to make those scenes work. She was incredible in those movies.

No Talia Shire? That's pretty bad. She was awesome in the first two movies... I wanted to marry her. After that her personality kind of changed. It's like they forgot that she was supposed to be shy.
I'm a huge fan of the Rocky franchise. I think 1 and 2 were easily the best of the series. They were dramas built around good characters with a boxing match as icing on the cake. The third and fourth movies were basically movies about boxing with some drama thrown in to give them some credibility. I liked 5 in some ways because Stallone returned to the type of character-driven storytelling that he used in the first two movies, but I didn't like the street fight. The use of that goofy rap music makes the film seem more dated than it's predecessors.
I think they could pull off Rocky 6 if Stallone is still in good enough shape to look decent in the ring. They need to drop Rocky's age to upper 40's at least though...because no one is going to buy a 60 year old guy in there. It needs to focus more on the characters and less on the boxing though... if it can manage that then it could be a nice send-off for the franchise.
I've heard Stallone say that he originally planned to have Rocky die at the end of Rocky 5 but changed it because he wanted it to have a happy ending...so a Rocky death may be in store for the end of Rocky 6.
In a final note I read that this movie is going to be titled "Rocky Balboa" instead of "Rocky VI".

Maybe Sly will make "Rhinestone II." Remember that movie with him as a country-western singer and Dolly Parton as Boobs McGee. (that's not really her character's name but it's funny) ;D
