Here's a link to see Brandon Routh in the new Superman costume: Well, what do you think? I have some very (VERY) strong emotions about this costume, but I'll wait to hear other opinions first. EDIT by Chris: URL tag added to prevent h-scroll insanity.

I think he looks like a young Christopher Reeves
I like the costume but it couldn't have been better

I think the actor looks fine...fits the role.
I think the costume is lame. Should be more 'BatMan' like with synthetic muscles/armor or something.
Looks like pajamas...this guy would get arrested and locked up in a funny farm before he could save anyone wearing that thing.

I can live with him being younger, I can live with the costume. It could use a little more muscle definition and his neck seems a little thin but Superman's strength didn't really come from juiced out muscles anyway. I do like the raised symbol.

Superman should have more buldge.
I'm looking forward to seeing Parker Posey and Kevin Spacey in the movie.

EGAD!
The suit looks more like Spider-Man.
The red needs to be MUCH more vibrant!
Routh has a good look though.

Ok, seriously. You can't f___ with Superman's costume. I mean come on. I am NOT a fanboy, but even I understand that simple concept.... Blue, RED and gold. not light blue, MAROON, and almost gold with a carbon fiber look... There ought to be a law.

Kaz, I'm with you. I know that purists and traditionalists are the bane of all comic-movie directors. But Superman is a walking, breathing symbol of power and freedom whose look is as timeless as the American flag. This suit offends me for a whole lot of reasons: -The speedo's are so short that it makes Routh look like a male stripper instead of the man of steel.
-The darker hues of red and gold make him look ominous or evil, not heroic. IGN.com has a page full of fan reactions to the suit. Everyone from purists to novices compare this costume to that of the "evil" Superman in Episode III.
-Brandon Routh in the traditionla suit may have looked like Superman. Brandon Routh in this Blue and Burgandy, lycra swimsuit looks like a kid going out to a college halloween party.
- The "S"!!! This is the symbol that lets the world know that Superman is here!! Just as Ross Andrew and John Byrne have always done when they draw Superman's "S", the costume designers should make it big and bold. Aside from adding to the flag and symbolism ideals the costume adheres to, a bigger "S" might hide the fact that Brandon Routh is in shape, but he's far from being strong enough to play a convincing Superman. The "S" may bother me more than anything else on this costume.
I know we live in computer enhanced times, and Routh may be made to look more convincing than Christopher Reeves ever could be. However; I agree with Kaz, many of the folks who have posted at IGN.com and a lot of you. Superman is a timeless icon whose costume is a powerful symbol recognized around the world. Now I went into a complete rant when Singer altered the X-Men costumes, and I was pleasantly surprised at the end result. Of course each X-man has had dozens of outfits, and they are nowhere near as popular or as timeless as the man in red and blue (sorry to offend X-fans, but facts is facts, daddy!). The same type of altering and tinkering wont work for Superman, especially after Christopher Reeves so recently ingrained the perfect image (in an acurate costume!!) into our memories. I'll be patient and see how this all turns out, but for now I have to say I'm a little nervous.
Oh, and BRING ON BATMAN!!!

I use to watch soaps, including One Life to Live...unless this kid has improved by leaps and bounds in the last few years, he is going to be a horrid, horrid Superman.
Reeve handpicked his successor, Tom Welling. That should have been enough, IMHO....=P

Even my wife who is no fan of Comics said that the suit is too dark all the way around...Where is the RED? while i like darker colors, this just isn't right...
