He is a legend of the silver screen, I was not a big fan when I was a kid... but now that I'm in my 30's John Wayne is cool.
My favorite film of all time from "The Duke" is RIO BRAVO with Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson. I'd say this is his best work, the Alamo was another good film he did. The reason I like Rio Bravo is the movie relied on old fashion toe-to-toe Cowboy action.
Whats your favorite Wayne Movie?

My favorite John Wayne movie is The Cowboys. Actually that is the only one I ever saw I liked, becuase the fact that Bruce Dern killed him was a surprise. I like western movies, but I have never liked John Wayne. I think it is an insult to all quality actors that have never been honored for their work by the Academy that he managed to pick up an Oscar for True Grit. In that film, just like virtually every other role he ever had, he played "The Duke".

I think that John Wayne is not different than ,say, Steven Seagal. Both are action stars of different eras.in any Seagal movie he is gonna whip the bad guys without breaking a sweat and come across looking like an ego-maniac.It's just the awards they give away today go to movies that a.)have a guy playing mentally challenged or b.)chicks with a "breakthrough" performance.Sometimes they get it right with a movie like Gladiator with Russell Crow (who's next role was a mentally challenged man in a Beautiful Mind)
