Whoever put "Through The Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce as the last song on Guitar Hero 3 is an evil genius. There's no freaking why I'm going to try that on a higher difficulty.

What I hate is how all these goobers online pick "Through The Fire and Flames" when playing against me and then suck at it. Now I have to play the whole damn thing just to get the win. I can do it, but I don't want to have to more than once a week.
Haven't gotten Rock band yet, but have played it. The guitar parts seem simpler than Guitar Hero, and that's the only thing I'm really interested in. They had both games set up side by side at Best Buy. I played Paranoid on both on the same difficulty, it was much easier on Rock Band.
I just wish Guitar Hero had the amount of downloads Rock Band had.

I got some time to kill, so I figured I'd update a bit on the Rock Band Downloadable content... February has no new stuff (which I find surprising, but they did release 15 songs in January) but March is busy... Starting with March 4th, there's a "Thrash Pack" including "Blinded by Fear" – At the Gates "Thrasher" – Evile "Shadow World" – The Haunted Then on March 11th, three singles; "Shooting Star"[16] Bad Company "Simple Man"[16] Lynyrd Skynyrd "Message in a Bottle"[16] The Police And finally, on March 25th, a very cool "Metal Pack" "Wrathchild" – Iron Maiden "Supernaut" – Black Sabbath "Fuel" – Metallica I don't know any of the Thrash Pack, but the singles are cool, and the Thrash Pack is loaded...March is good for Rock Band..

The DLC available for Rockband is out of control...I swear they are set on nickle and diming me on xbox marketplace. Between the increse in better quality on XBLA, and the great songs (and the greater variety for all tastes) it cant be beat. GH3 is great too, but it is clearly going in a different direction (boss battles, increased difficulty..etc). Rock Band is a different beast altogether...the challenge of coordinating my otherwise uncoordinated friends and getting through 'and justice for all' is worth the price of admission!! Plus, they are going to have At the gate and the haunted as DLC, thats just awesome right there www.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/rock-band-dlc-for-march-revealed-in-oxm-ad/

That's PSN for you. Had them 1st thing yesterday morning on Live They announced we're getting them Thursday, so that's not so bad....The Scenario I'm hoping for is that last week they had no staff on (due to holiday or some junk) so they put them up on the 1st instead of the 28th (I think)...I'm hoping they delayed this one to space them out a wee bit and that next week we'll be back on Tuesday again... They were good up until the end of January...

Ehh...I'm not Guitar guy, that's Pittbull's thing...We have to do Hard soon as well since we maxed our fans in World Tour...Oddly, on drums some of the songs will be a bit more consistant...No spaces between beats where they staggered the foot pedal on Medium... I'll let you know how it turns out...

Well I'm now trying to tackle HARD and Man is it HARD!! Any tips for moving up and down the neck to get to that damn Orange button. First off, get used to sliding your hand down from having your index finger on the green fret to having it on the red fret, letting your pinky rest on the orange one. I find that just moving the base position of my fingers when necessary is a whole lot easier than either reaching the pinky to cover orange or reaching the index to cover the green. An easy way to practice this is to play songs on Medium and start your hand with your index on red. When there's a green note (or a series of them) you need to play, slide your hand up to cover them, then slide it back down when it's not necessary anymore. This will get you used to playing in both positions without the added speed of the notes on Hard throwing you off. When you're comfortable with the shifting, then step back up to Hard. The more important bit of advice is to practice the songs a little bit and learn when you're going to need to shift your fingers. If you know when you're going to need to hit the orange fret, you can plan out the easiest time to switch your hand down to play it.

BDS hit it on the head. The best way I can explain it, is to really get your brain to switch on/off into two modes. It takes quite a bit of practice, but once you shift your hand down the one position and your brain picks up on all the colors now associated to different fingers it becomes surprisingly simple. It took me about 2 weeks of play before it became natural.
Currently I'm trying to get through drums on hard, but man Go with the Flow is a beast on the pedal....
BTW I was looking at some PS3 versions of the Rock Band on youtube and I noticed you guys get the drums on the right side with the guitarist in the middle of the screen (4 player) while those of us on 360 get the drums in the middle. Odd, I guess its so you can tell which version of the game is being played. Also it looks like the PS3 version was being played Co-op online which is news to me as 360 has no co-op online mode.

I own Rock Band and love it. I play Guitar normally on it. I have a hard time on drums sadly. Speaking of rough songs. Seven by Vagrant is the song I hate with a passion. And my birthday is in March so as a personal gift to myself I'm snagging up the NIN pack and the metal pack for sure. I personally like the Rock Band guitar over the Guitar Hero one.
