Wish I had the time, but don't.
Have played SOM (mostly basketball and baseball) since the 1970s ... done a number of season replays (for Cavs/Indians -- grew up in Ohio) and other leagues (mainly solo or face-to-face), but just don't have the time to do as much of it anymore.
Very much agree with Shemp on the best games ...

I never played Strat. Heard great things about it though. I had all of the Statis-Pro games (baseball, basketball, football) froma company based in Maryland. They have since gone out of business but you can always find them on Ebay.
I have a question for those Strat players. I am thinking about picking up the computer strat football game. Anyone played it? Is it worth it?

As to your question, mwjergs, I'm pretty much a dice-rolling guy across the board, so I don't know much about the computer versions of Strat. I can only assume that if they are like the dice-rolling versions, they would be pretty solid.

APBA games have always been the best. Broadcast Blast with Ernie Harwell that APBA put out several years ago in conjunction with Miller is the best baseball game EVER. Thankfully they're finally going to be updating the game. Their hockey game was always the best sim as well, but it never got updated. I've been looking for a good hockey sim for years now and haven't found what I need. Strat-O-Matic's doesn't appear to fit my what I'm looking for.

If you are a solo replayer, you'll definitely find enjoyment trying to beat the computer manager. If you enjoy playing over the net, that mode is extremely good also. There are alot of teams and seasons to pick from, and those teams (espically the older ones) play just like they're supposed to. I highly recommend it. Here's a link to a Strat fan forum: www.stratfanforum.com/

Actually I went ahead and bought it anyway. Played two games last night and I am hooked.
I think I'll do a season replay of the 2006 rosters that came with the game and just keep practicing. I'd love to get into a few leagues.

I might have to give this a shot. I've got all the board games but really only am addicted to the baseball version just because its so easy to play a full game. I've got almost every year of Strat baseball from 86-current.
Strat Football has always intrigued me but I've always passed because the board game seems to take a lot of time with moving the chains, clock, etc. Plus being addicted to Madden doesn't help.

I haven't played the Basketball game in years, but it was fun. I really like the baseball and football board games. Biggest benefit of baseball is how fast it is to play. The football game takes about an hour to play, but well worth the time. The cards are well done and working the chains and clock takes no time.

The Football board game is really cumbersome for sure, but the ease of play and the quality of gameplay spent on the pc game makes the time well spent.
