Playstation 1 game questions

Alright, I doubt anybody on here will no the answer to these questions, but I don't know anyplace else to ask them. Does/Did anybody own any of the old mlb or nfl gameday games made by SCEA/989 Sports for the original Playstation? If so, could you switch controls of what team you play as during the middle of the game in them? I know this sounds strange but my son and I like to play the games together being both teams. Meaning that he bats for one team and I the other, or he plays football as the offense for one team while I play the offense for the other with the computer controlling the defense. It may sound strange, but he is still young and he can understand how to bat, but he doesn't understand defense. I know these games are old, but I used to love to play them but don't have them anymore.

I know with the older NCAA football game you could change, because I have it. I dont have the ones and havent played the ones you are asking about but I cant see why you wouldnt be able to. YAHOO answers/questions might be a good place to ask this question OR go to ebay and find the games then ask the seller to see if they know.
