Well...I have been on a HUGE Lord of the Rings kick for the last 2 months or so. I have Lord of the Rings Online (which, I think, is the best MMO to date....DOWN WITH THE WOW!!) I have been reading the Lord of the Rings books again (third time) I have rewatched all the extended dvd's and tonight, I will be playing a game of War of the Ring w/ the Battles of the Third Age expansion!! (link: www.fantasyflightgames.com/lotrwar.html ) Anyone else been playing/reading/watching any of these things lately?? Chris

Lord of the Rings is almost always what's on my proverbial nightstand. I've got War of the Ring and the expansion, but getting my wife to play them is like pulling teeth - I've got to wait until the kids get older, I guess. And while we haven't watched the movies in a while except briefly to test the PS3's upscaler, we did listen to like the first five hours of the BBC radio drama last night.
Yeah, I'm kind of a Tolkien geek.
I've wanted on various occasions to play LOTRO, but then I'm reminded by myself or a concerned observer that it's still an MMO, and it's still going to have all of the foibles of an MMO, so I've abstained. I'm not sure I'd have fun with it anyway, to be honest - I've never enjoyed Middle Earth RPGs because I don't feel like I belong in Tolkien's world, and I'm sure the MMO would be the same for me.

I've read the LOTR trilogy once a year since I was 12 years old. My sister and I watch the movies together once a year too.

I'm shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A bunch of dorks who play a card and dice pro wrestling game also like LOTR.
This in by no ways is meant to imply that I am not a dork nor that I don't like LOTR, which I do.

I've got War of the Ring and the expansion, but getting my wife to play them is like pulling teeth same thing here BDS. I bought the game when it came out, but it's so intimidating with all its bits I've yet to get a game out of it. From either my wife or others.

She's liked the two games we've played, but they just take too long for her taste. It's an awesome game, though, and it's definitely worth trying to find someone who's willing to play it with you. Just make sure they're ready for a 3-4 hour game.

Anyone play the Tabletop LotR game that came with painted figures in blister packs, and had hex- or octagonal bases and played like SWM or Heroclix?
