I was looking at a site for one of my favorite games, Galactic Civilizations 2, and they pimped out a new game on their front page called Space Rangers 2. So I checked it out (in large part because the Battlefield 2142 demo made my Lappy pee the carpet), and I am blown away by it! It's kind of like Dope Wars in space. Which makes it Space Trader. So it's kind of like Space Trader, but with about a hojillion different extras. In addition to the trading and the economy, there's a turn-based space game for the flying and shooting and hailing other ships. There's also a fully 3D RTS mini-game where you design little robots to blow up other little robots. There's a ton of customization you can do to your own ship, too, from weapons to engines and everything in between. In addition, it's a gigantically open-ended game. You can follow the plot if you want, you can focus on life as a merchant, you can focus on doing random missions, or you can even choose to play out the game as a pirate. There's all the freedom you want to play out the game as you wish. The two best parts, though, are as follows: there is no copy-protect to mess with, so you don't have that annoyance to worry about, and it's only $20. If you like space games, strategy games, or either of the Palm classics I mentioned, go pick it up. It's worth every bit of $20 and then some.
