Hey guys,
Am looking to pick up a baseball game for Gamecube and was wondering if anyone out there has any input or advice before I make a purchase? I know that MVP Baseball 2005 looks great, but I don't think they released 2006. Any help??
Thanks, Goodzilla

The only two baseball games available for the gamecube this year are Mario Baseball and Major League Baseball.
Last year, 2K Sports purchased the exclusive rights to Major League Baseball, the MLB Players Association and MLB Stadiums. Without access to official pro baseball licenses, EA Sports was forced to change MVP Baseball to a college baseball game.
From what I've played on all other systems, Major League Baseball 2K6 should be avoided like the plague. Mario, on the other hand, is darned fun.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about the 2K6 games but that doesn't really surprise me. They've never done a baseball game right.

Not that its Game Cube, but "the show" version over on PS2 is really fantastic. .. you can either do a tradition franchise mode or play, well, yourself. You create a player, get drafted, work through the minors, etc. The cool part is you can JUST play yourself (i.e. ff the game to your next AB) and you can't coach... i.e if you're not good enough to start, you don't. Its a really nice twist.

So do you guys think that my best bet would be to get MVP Baseball 2005 on the cube? It sounds like it's far and away better than the others?
(As for Mario Baseball, I will definitely be getting that game as I love all the Mario sports titles, but I'm looking for more of a baseball sim right now).
How is the dynasty mode in 2005?? I know the minor leagues are included, so I could even control my old employer (Toledo Mud Hens). My favorite team is the Tigers, and I'm a little worried that their players might suck royally in the this game.

I manage a game store.........get an MVP 2005 (used of course, its cheep)......and play the hell out of it.......till you make the next system choice....
BTW> The Show is far an away the best Baseball out there......but even it still needs some work....
Nintendo plans to do their own on the Wii, only time will tell
Mario baseball.....is DAMN FUN and worth the time

there will not be any MVP pro games for awile.....
When EA purchased exclusive rights to the NFL and NCAA football...
they cheesed off the industry......Take Two (Rockstars home company) decided to buy the exclusive rights to MLB and then allow any company EXCEPT EA to make a game.....
Serves EA right......but MVP baseball is now College baseball only.... its fun......but its college
NBA and NHL have not yet sold its rights....
FIFA and World Cup are exclusive to EA (Although Winning 11 is a better Soccar Game)
Hope ALL this info helps

Yes, buy MVP. It is so much better than your other options.
As far as Detroit sucking, you can edit players and make them as good or bad as you want. And yes they have the real farm systems for every team.
As long as the Gamecube version is the same as PS2, then Owner mode is great for business geeks like me. Otherwise Dynasty mode is just as good minus the business stuff.
You can sim games, coach games or play them.
