Is EWR still free to download anywhere? The last version I had was 4.0 or something like that, right about when they were announcing they were going to make a snazzy version that would cost money. I have tried online searches, but can't find it anywhere. I loved that game, but sadly it was on a long-gone computer...

I purchased an early TEW. I found it much less 'fun' to play. It had some unique interesting features... like a worker being able to draw differantly in differant parts of the county/world...it also had the ability to book house shows. However, all of the options left it extremely...tedious. The multi-option made it run much slower. The fact that it is now charged for means that you only get 'fictional' workers.
After the year plus since I tried it, I assume that things have been tweaked and that the Internet has several additional rosters that can be added on. But, as I said, I found it much less satisfing that EWR.
4.0 is the latest I have as well.

No..bad pikemojo, BAD! That site is for TEW, which is the snazzy cost money version of EWR he was talking about. Go here: www.ewbattleground.com/That front page has a zip copy of EWR 4.2 to dl.

I actually found that TEW 05 has a much more player friendly engine, but its still tedious and time consuming. AND frankly, not that much fun. You have to REALLY love the business end of things to like TEW. After playing the demo, I went back to EWR. But I did actually fall in love with the fictional Cornellverse. And I ended up spending a rather long time converting the TEW characters into a playable scenario for EWR. Posted it on the boards and update is as i go along. Quite fun actually. And challenging. Especially because the stats are more balanced and, unlike those Ravex updates, not every indy worker is a superstar waiitng to happen. Hmmm....I always wished someone had made a really good COTG scenario for EWR.

Now THAT I would love...
I actually tried that but became frustrated as I had trouble signing wrestlers and new 'Random' guys showed up!

Yeah...I started but realistically you'd have to create a bunch of other small feds and workers to round out the database or else the game would be a little lame.
I *suppose* you could use some of the better bootleg sets and then fill in holes in 2119 with all the workers who left for parts unknown. There are so many passing mentions of other feds....it could be done, but it'd be a major undertaking.
You'de need a team to collect all the info.

I was working on such a scenario, but I gave up when I hit the logistical nightmares of characters like Buck Steele/Genocide and the unaging Wolf.

I did a COTG one for TEW, just for kicks, but never played beyond a couple weeks in 2087. 2 entirely different concepts that don't combine too well.
