I wouldnt be the Gamemaster if I didnt go. It was awesome. Right off the back the Nintendo WII stole the show for me. Until you get that controller in your hands you dont understand how cool it is. I for one was the number one hater of all things Nintendo but this was rule. I didnt get to play Zelda or Mario because after I waited for 3 hours to get into the Nintendo booth I wasnt gonna wait another 3 to play Zelda for 5 minutes. From what I saw and heard both of those games where great. Mario Galaxies looked really fun. What I didnt know is that there is a sensor in the nunchuck analog stick that connects to the WII controller so you have 2 controllers that detect motion and that kinda rules. I played Dragonball with that setup and you had to pull both controllers back and shoot forward to do Kame waves.I playe this cool game called Project Hammer that was a huge guy with a robot arm and u swung around a huge hammer. It was a brawler but spinning around the controller was really fun to swing the hammer. Snake in Smash got a all around applause.Zelda will be at launch but Im not to sure about Mario. I could go on forever about how cool that was but what surprised me the most was the other controller that came packed in. It was basically a SNES controller with dual analogs like the PS2. AWESOME...
Sony was what I expected with its jaw dropping MGS4 movie that revealed Raiden which was nuts. It showed Raiden fighting 15 mini MGs with a Katana he hooked up to his feet. The sony booth was insane because it was at one of the front entrances so it was a little hard to enjoy with all the threw traffic. The controller was the same ol dual shock with ...wait for it... motion detection just like the wii. There was no games that utilized the ability that I played so I dont know if it even worked. Heavenly Sword was God of War with a chick which was really awesome. It looked like a feudal Japan setting and that was fine by me. There was still a butt load of PS2 games that where rpgs so dont fret just yet. God of War 2 looked really good but to be honest I didnt spend that muck time in the Sony booth because it was so hectic.
Square anounced 3 FF 13 games that you had to get a ticket to watch the trailer. I didnt see it.
Halo 3 had a trailer that was 30 seconds long and showed zero gameplay.
Gears of War had the Largest sign on the building and was nowhere to be found.
I lived at the 360 booth for the first 2 days and mainly playing what most people called ther game of the show Dead Rising. This game freakin ruled. You are stuck in a mall with the most amount of Zombies they can cram on a screen at once. You can pick up nearly anything in the mall and use it at a weapon I mean anything. I used a bench, cans, toy lightsabers, clubs, guns, ect. The creators said there was around 300 different weapons and killing zombies was never so visceral.Shadowrun really let me down because it was Shadowrunandgun as everyone on the floor called it. They took the ultra deep rpg and turned it into a really cool counterstrike. There wasnt even a single player story mode because they were working on it being a online experience. Once you teleport and fly around with guns and magic you kinda forgive them though. Still this had the potential to be a futuristic Oblivion and they kinda dropped the ball. I seen so much at these booths and im sorry if I left out any of your favorites but drop me a line and ask me whatever. If I seen it or played it I will let you know what I thought of it.
