Well what can you do? Love it or hate it, it has some endearing qualities. Who knows maybe we will get a Jaws Unleashed 2?

Actually, something close to this is happening, and I see a disturbing trend on the horizon here. Jaws will make his way to next-gen consoles, and apparently quite a bit of time and effort are going into the production. Makes me wonder if part of the problem with this gen's version is that it got short changed so the developers could focus on next gen.

That could be, although I noticed that IGN has a review up on it that really says it all about taking the good with the bad. It has a overall rating of 7.4 and a reader review of 7.2 so it is far from being a bad game considering. For the little minor annoyances this game has it sure makes up for with other elements. Granted had they waited until November to release it, I am sure we would have seen a bit more refinement but from what there is, I can live with the camera issues, the very rare glitches any day. If I can play Showdown Legends of Wrestling (PS2) and enjoy it with all the problems that game has (mind you my copy is very rarely afflicted.) then this one is a walk in the park. Besides there is soo much to do. So the way some go on about this game you would think it was the worst game out there. And they would be sadly mistaken. Again this review pretty much sums it up in a nutshell..... ps2.ign.com/articles/710/710072p1.htmlApparently the Xbox version is horrible to play and wrought with major glitches making the PS2 one look like a gem. Long Live Sony!

I'll see your IGN.com and raise you Gamespot.com. www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/jaws/review.htmlAccording to these guys, the PS2 and Xbox versions suck. If you hang your argument on fan reviews, between these two sites and four other gaming review sources, the XBox comes out on top (do the research; read the fan reviews). So much for the game's problems being an XBox only issue. If you go back into the archives, IGN.com rated WWF Attitude well ahead of Smackdown versus Raw 2006, No Mercy and VPW2. If you've played these games, you know there's something a little off with IGN.com's review system, and this is one of NUMEROUS examples.

Well I personally don't follow reviews to sway me to buy or not to buy a game. I will rent it if I am not sure and if I enjoyed it enough to buy it then so be it. JAWS was a straight pick it up and play deal since I am a fan of the movie then this was a no brainer.
I find the "issues" easy to work around and they don't inhibit my enjoyment of the game so the IGN review I tend to agree with as far as the good goes with the bad and the good also far exceeds the bad. I have not encountered the issues as most on the message boards seem to dramatically go on about. They do happen but very very rarely.
Either way I am not a fan of X box so I cannot imagine what this game would look like since the renders really bothered me. Everything looks "plastic" in their games. Legends of Wrestling was the worst. I think the big plastic looking Shark would really bug me in the X box version. But before I get too off topic ultimately some love it and others hate it. Had the game been one of the best games to come out some one would still have something to complain about.
Different Boats for different folks.
But mine comes with a Shark! ;D

I got this game and am also pretty disappointed. Eating people and destroying things is fun, but I hate the missions. I'm currently stuck on the mission where you have to destroy the refinery (the first mission after the tutorial) with the barrels. I keep dying before I can grab a barrel. Does anyone know of any cheat codes for the game?
Also, the first time I got the game, it kept locking up on mr and outright not working, so I returned it. Now it's locking up again. Anyone have similar problems?
Take care,
Jay

I just wanted to post that I found a cheat code for those who got as frustrated as I with the game.
Enter "SHAARK" as your profile name (that's right...3 A's) to unlock all levels and get 300,000 points for your abilities. You still have to collect everything, and you can revisit levels as you wish.
Take care,
Jay

I have had no freezing up myself so I dunno? Are you playing it on a new PS2 or playing it on the X box? Cause I have one of the old thick PS2's and am not having any problems. Maybe your set up in the PS2 itself?
The refinery level is pretty simple, wait until you were to get to the Trail of Blood level. It is hard! There are depth charges chained to the ocean floor and you cannot touch them or else it sets off a chain reaction. Also you have to use your shark sight and then take barrels from the ocean floor at the start of the level and blow up the glowing ones to make an entrance to get the divers. It is hard so if anyone knows how to get pass this level help would be appreciated.

I did, and I have to say it's one of the worst game releases this year. Why? Some of the worst controls ever and glitches (the game is full of them). The combination of slowdown, glitches and pretty average graphics makes this a bad gaming experience. It should be noted that the average review for this game is 5 out of 10, making it somewhere between poor and average (depending on who's review you read). Really?! Cause I have had no problem playing it and am loving it. But I guess you have to be a JAWS fan to really enjoy it, maybe it was the X-box version you were playing cause the PS2 version is slick as are the controls. I thought I'd do a little research, and with sales per system, number of units moved and defect returns all tallied, the PS2 version is far and away the bigger problem. It should be noted that this is not just simply because more units were sold for PS2 than XBox. A greater percentage of PS2 discs are being returned as defective (versus sales) than the XBox. Further (and I have said this before), Majesco seems to be acknowledging the game -in ALL forms - is a mess, and they are blaming it on the next-gen focus. As an XBox fan, and an intelligent enough person to know when a game - NOT the system it's played on - is bad, I thought I'd do the research and give you the straight facts.

I have the PS2 version; hopefully my previous game was just defective. I got so tired of trying to beat the first level (refinery) that I just used the SHAARK code and unlocked everything. Now I'm just looking for shiny things while killing people as I go.
Is it me, or do some of the people scream, "Oh $#!@!" when you topple or strike their boats?
Take care,
Jay

Well that says it all right there! ;D Uhhh, I've been pretty clear about my likes and dislikes in numerous posts on the OTHER GAMES thread, and I've been accused of being a Sony fanatic (by many who've read my Smackdown and PS3 posts) and at one point, a Nintendo Ultra-loyalist, so I'm a bit lost on your point. While I openly profess my preference for Microsoft's machines, I've also been pretty out and in the open about owning other systems and liking more than a few games on those systems. I've also not made bogus and completely unsupported claims (I've castigated the quality of PS2 systems, and I've complained about Nintendo's poor sales, but both points have been supported through Sony, Nintendo, NPD group, The Wall Street Journal and the list goes on and on). Have you any proof - other than my (repeated) admission that I like the XBox - that the system is the reason for JAWS being a poor game? Or am I being too prudish (too bad your taking negative criticism and a serious bit of research personally)?
