It was supposed to be out last Nov (maybe that's what I confused Legends Fever with), but it kept getting delayed. From what I read, it's a cross between Ecco the Dolphin, as Pit Bull said, with Grand Theft Auto. You play as the shark and you get to eat people, animals, boats, etc. It's supposed to be free-roaming, like the GTA games. Hopefully, it's not as linear as Destroy All Humans and Simpsons, Hit and Run.
Take care,
Jay

It is apparently being released May 1st 2006. So hopefully it makes its way out and no more delays. Jaws is one of my favorite movies so this game better be good as it appears to be.

I can't wait fo rthis game... why ren't their more games taking place underwater? Ecco the Dolphin was pretty cool and Treasures of the Deep for the PS1 rocked! Jaws should be very good.

I don't see it being as enjoyable as Mercenaries, but it could still be fun.
Take care,

Really? I think being a 25 ft, 3 tonne maw of flesh tearing inscisors and primal instinct swimming the depths of the Jaws film universe is good enough for me! Take control of Jaws the Great White Shark while playing out themes and in locations from the JAWS film universe
More than 10 meticulously detailed, destructible environments, each with unique designs and intense action
Unleash real-time damage on intelligent enemies, vehicles and structures
Perform a variety of stunning underwater, surface and air attacks via a user friendly combat system
Dismemberment engine provides multiple points of disconnection allowing for characters and objects to be torn apart piece by piece
Follow story-based missions or choose to freely roam the island and its surroundings causing havoc
Encounter multiple side missions/challenges including timed destruction, stealth, chase and others
Face fearsome arena bosses including killer whales, powerful boats and more
See your victims before they know you’re coming and target lock on enemies from afar with Shark Vision
Created by Appaloosa Interactive, developer of the award-winning Ecco the Dolphin series Check it all out here www.jawsthegame.com/

Well I hope I'm wrong about Mercs being better. A lot of the GTA clones were nothing more than linear stories with some free-roaming. I'm hoping Jaws is better.
Take care,
Jay

Well I picked this up and have completed up to getting to swim around the Isle and doing side missions. I have to say this game is great! The controls are very slick. The look and feel of this game is amazing! I really like what they did here. The game seems pretty extensive, but again I have only been playing for a few hours. Give it a rent and you may be surprised.
The Jaws fans will get a kick out of this one and the ability to grab the people and drag them about the surface, like at the beginning of the movie is awesome! The different positions in which to latch on to your victims is well done. And how the blood powders in the water is a nice touch as well. There is quite a bit to do even if you want to just swim about and be a 35ft shark.
There are side missions, the main storyline as well as searching for all the Treasure chests, license plates and tin cans to unlock some special material. Also between loading screens it gives you a little bit of trivia about the Jaws Movie. I picked it up for about $40.00 Cdn and I am sure you can get it for less. But it is well worth the money and I think it is money well spent. But then again I am a Jaws geek and well like sharks.

I did, and I have to say it's one of the worst game releases this year. Why? Some of the worst controls ever and glitches (the game is full of them). The combination of slowdown, glitches and pretty average graphics makes this a bad gaming experience.
It should be noted that the average review for this game is 5 out of 10, making it somewhere between poor and average (depending on who's review you read).

Cause I have had no problem playing it and am loving it. But I guess you have to be a JAWS fan to really enjoy it, maybe it was the X-box version you were playing cause the PS2 version is slick as are the controls.

Actually, I'm a Jaws fan who was alive when the original movie made its theatrical debut, AND I was playing the PS2 version.
I tried to ignore reviews and the words of two friends and numerous customers, but the truth is the game (all versions) really isn't that good.

Well, I enjoy it and that is all that really matters in the grand scheme of things. ;D Trust me there are worse games that this. Most that seem to be really hating this game just cannot play it.

It's funny how we find a game we like that the vast majority of others don't , and it's because THEY don't get it.
Never mind the fact that Majesco has already admitted to making programming errors as a result of releasing the game 4 months early (the game was due for an early November release, but Majesco wanted to cash in on summertime - the time when all the Jaws movies were released and many coastal residents hit the beaches).
This is certainly neither the worst game out (that list is too numerous to get into here), nor is it the worst movie licensed game ever made (the new X-Men game is clearly vying for that crown), but it is a dud, and the poor controls, shoddy graphics, long load times and boring play mechanics have little to do with the player's understanding of the game. If anything interferes with the enjoyment of this product, it's his/her level of tolerance for wasting $39.99 on a rushed rag of a game.
