Probably not. Any Pokemon game released for the DS will undoubtedly take advantage of that system, meaning two screens (possibly touch control, although that doesn't strike me as being necessary) and wi-fi play.
It's the latter that will really push the sales, IMO.

I hope they release them on GBA. I don't own DS and I would be disappointed if It came out for DS only

I don't think that it will be on GBA but exclusive to the DS...if you guys will be at GalactiCon this year, Cameron will probably be able to trade Pokemon either through the cards or video games...

I sure wish they will bring them out on the GBA, I will buy a DS only if they wont come out on my system...
I dont think they should make a game just for one system, but then again it means if you want the game, you have to buy the system... That is where they get us allll

but Lisa, the DS is AWESOME! You can play GBA games on it, so you can sell your old GBA and get a DS. So many good games already, with many more to come.

We keep our old GBAs around for two reasons: 1) DS doesn't connect to the GameCube for FF:CC, Zelda: Four Swords, or Pokemon Colosseum 2) GBA games played in the DS can't use any link options of the game (like trading pokemon). That being said, we pretty much use our DSes exclusively. I know my wife is playing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories when she isn't tending her AC:WW town or clearing some lines in Tetris DS. My Slot 2 has the Metroid Prime Pinball rumble pak in it, but that's just to have something in there.

I would assume that the differences between the games would be no more than the differences between any other "set" of editions.

Pokemon is one of the most evil games this side of Animal Crossing.
You load it up, and at first, the cutesy pokemons are weird, but then you realize...You're basicly training these things to fight for the DEATH...kinda...
So then you play for a couple minutes...it turns into half an hour, and you just keep thinking "I've gotta get Haruyama to another level!" and it all just spirals out of control.
...that said, DS Pokemon sounds pretty awesome...

Oh I know...many a time that I have said I would play for a few minutes and it turn into hours trying to get my Nuzleaf to evolve into a Shifttry but find out from my kids that I need a leaf stone.

Anybody know when Pokemon Pearl will come out? Haven't heard a thing about it. I don't even think Japan has it yet.

Expect Pearl and Diamond here around next March or April. I think it will be out in Japan in October but don't quote me.

Typical of the previous releases though. The information is trickling in about the new games. Till then you have Pokemon Ranger and Mysterious Dungeon to tide you over.
