Not buying it. Already played Sapphire, and the new stuff just isn't worth it.
I have, however, openly debated buying Diamond/Pearl when they ship eventually. Because I know that a couple of years later they'll have a third, extras-added version (although i guess "ElectricYellow" or "WaterBlue" would have to come out first, since that's generally the pattern).
I probably will, but it still irks me.

Emerald is alot better then Saphire and Ruby and worth the money
You can even catch the following pokemon at some point in the game
Hoot Hoot/Noctowl Teddy Ursa/Ursa Ring Miltank Gligar Mareep/Flaffy/Ampharos Pineco/Fortress Houndour/Houndoom Snubbull/Granbull Ditto Aipom Stantler Smeargle Sudowoodo Wooper/Quagsire Sun Kern/Sunflora Ledyba/Ledian Spinarak/Ariados Shuckle Remoraid/Octillery
And you can catch all three Kyogre,Groudon+The Dragon but they are not easy

Emerald is alot better then Saphire and Ruby and worth the money ...if you haven't already bought Ruby/Sapphire, yes. Well worth it. If you've been a loyal pokémaniac and snapped up the last three (pre-Emerald) releases, not so much. I already have all of those (or could by breeding) thanks to Colosseum (and LeafGreen in the case of Ditto), PLUS I have access to Chikorita, Totodile, and Cyndaquil; I also own Raikou, Suicune, and Entei, at the same time, without needing to trade or restart twice. Heck, I didn't even need to hunt them down. In fact, if it wasn't so maddengly difficult to catch a Feebas (although apparently the wife managed it, and may have females...), I'd nearly have a full set. I can get Ho-Oh from Colosseum too if I devote the time to purifying my Shadow beasties. Other than the special-rares (Mew, Celebi, Deoxys -- I have a Jirachi, since that only required the Colosseum demo disc), the only one I don't think I could get my hands on now is Lugia. EDIT: And the Bulbasaur tree, since we didn't bother grabbing the third starter last time. For me, the only additions that Emerald has to offer are the Battle Frontier and wireless compatibility. And my expierence with LeafGreen Wireless (sssssssssooooooooo sllllllllllllloooooooooooow...) hasn't encouraged me.
