Have you tried to find out more about release dates or why they aren't promoting this thing already? If so, what responses have you gotten? If not, why? The delay I've found to be a combination of CI wanting it to be perfect and last-second WWE requests ("So they waited till now to tell us to put trademark by every first mention of the superstars why?"). As for promotion, my feeling is that a big part of the reason they get licenses is so they don't have to spend much time or effort promoting them, preferring to let the name sell itself... I know, not the smartest thing (and I'm refraining really hard from making any marketing genius remark ). I think they blew most of the budget on getting licenses so there isn't much left over for marketing/promotion... that and, well, a couple "questionable" decisions I'll comment on after the game's released, have pretty much left us designers (and certain fans and playtesters) as the primary promoters. I've read the demo and I think it's some of the most inovative use of the D20 system ever. I'm excited about this game. The price is kinda high but it may be worth it.
But here's what I need to know before dropping that kind of money. What is the roster included with the game like? Everyone? Most everyone? Triple H and JBL only? None at all?
And that being answered what are the plans for supporting it? Roster Books would be nice. Maybe Hall of Fame or classic books covering older Wrestlers. Maybe Era books covering everyone from a certain period. Maybe a way to do multiple write ups of one guy (Blackjack Bradshaw, Accolite Bradshaw, Hardcore Bradshaw, JBL).

I've read the demo and I think it's some of the most inovative use of the D20 system ever. I'm excited about this game. The price is kinda high but it may be worth it. I'm glad you like it. Tony is the main one who deserves credit for how the mechanics work. I'm not sure how much info I can leak, so I'll just say that the book contains 20 characters (21 if you count the character I built for the "example of character creation" section... his name is "Too Hot for TV" Maxwell Heath). We tried to cover a wide range of levels and wrestling styles, from Hurricane all the way up to Kurt Angle. Currently, the first sourcebook is slated to be PAINdemonium and it's pretty much a companion book to the first one, crammed with new stuff for your games of KYR -- new feats, new gimmick matches, expanded GM advice, and 20 more wrestlers. That being said, this isn't etched in stone. Things could very well change.

That doesn't sound to bad. From the wrestlers you have included would you say it would be fairly easy to use them for comparison to model other existing Wrestlers?

From the wrestlers you have included would you say it would be fairly easy to use them for comparison to model other existing Wrestlers? I think so... It's only a skip to tweak Kurt Angle into Chris Benoit, The Undertaker into Kane, The Hurricane into Rey Mysterio. Of course, your idea of, say, Shawn Michaels or John Cena might differ from mine in terms of character class, levels, abilities, etc., but the game system is versatile enough to handle what you have in mind (or what you think they should be). So, any news on a more solid release date?

As far as I know, it's still "late April or early May". Tony may know something more concrete, though. As soon as we know something, we'll be sure to post it here.

Amazon.com is now predicting an April 5 or 6 shipping date. Well, that's very likely not gonna happen... Hopefully it's at the printer by now. Figuring a 1-1/2 month turnaround, we're looking at a May shipping date. Tony

A bookseller at my local Borders (in the Aurora, Illinois area) showed me something interesting on their database. WWE KYR is listed as "CANCELED" under the ISBN listed on the demo site. HOWEVER, KYR is listed under a different ISBN, and it's scheduled for August (right around Summerslam weekend). Perhaps this explains a number of things, including why there's no advertising blitz just yet. What have you guys on the project heard?

RingsYde: That's interesting... I'll try to find out more, mostly on whether it has gone to print yet (now this could be another WWE approval delay), but far as I know, it's still a May release. I personally am not expecting a blitz from Comic Images, just because they don't seem to do that for new gaming products; I mean, how many of you also know they are doing the Godzilla CCG? There should be more buzz for that than there are right now, in my opinion. All I can is, if WWE: KYR gets pushed all the way back to SummerSlam and misses Gen Con Indy, I'm having a talk with somebody Tony

I just received word from CI. KYR will be a late May or early June release. He stated that it'll likely be the latter of the two.
Sorry to bring bad news, but I figured everyone should know.

Thanks for the news. Considering I was told August, I have no problem with June.

Tony just sent an email to the KYR email group, confirming an early June release. The book went to the printers last week and there's a two-month turnaround on it.
Figured I'd pass along the news.

Is Know Your Role out yet? If it is, anybody have a chance to take a look at it yet?

Is Know Your Role out yet? If it is, anybody have a chance to take a look at it yet? Theroretically out towards the middle of June. The website has some updated stats for Batista and John Cena. www.comicimages.com/kyrAllen

I could deal with the over priced book or the delays, but the two together is making it hard to keep careing about this project.
