www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/16/screens_6124681.html?page=1Sony debuted this machine at E3 just a few hours ago. I'm not a big fan of Sony gaming systems (two controller ports and no internal memory are so LAST generation . . . not to mention that PS2's fall apart four times faster than any system out there [not just my opinion; NPD tracking group confirms this]), but this baby looks sweet. Stay tuned for more info.

Tod Browning's Freaks. Also parodied in the Clerks Animated Series.
I've never known anyone who had a PS2 fall apart, break down, or anything of the like.

I've never known anyone who had a PS2 fall apart, break down, or anything of the like. Me and 3 of my friends all had theirs stop reading discs and just start making some clicking noise. I had one of the original batches from opening day, and after about 2 years it conked out without much help at all from sony on fixing it.

A quick bit of new info on the PS3; Apparently, the memory upgrade for the system will allow gamers to use the LINUX operating system.
For anyone who's either used LINUX or played LINUX based games, this is huge news!!
In a bit of a related item, it looks like one of the lures to buy WWE SMACKDOWN VS. RAW 2 (for PS2) will be a fairly huge trailer for Smackdown PS3, included on the disc.

Is it just me or does that control pad (I'm guessing "Dual Shock 3") look incredibly uncomfortable?
Of course, I don't like the PS2's control pad either.

Finally, a kindred spirit. I thought I was the only man on earth who was less than impressed with the PS2 controller.
Yes, the PS3 controller looks bigger, less contoured to the human hand and plain ugly. However, because Sony lost a lawsuit over the Dual Shock controller (apparently, that design and technology belonged to another comapny all along), and any appeals would result in PS3 game development delays, they opted to create a new controller.
Leading to this hulking boomerang.

"Less than impressed" doesn't adequately describe my opinion on the Dual Shock pad. I hate that thing with a passion. I hate the fragmented D-pad, I hate the way it feels in my hand, I hate the fact that I still can't remember which is circle and which is square without looking (either at the pad itself or an on-screen reminder), I hate the two triggers on each side (which is why I'm not fond of the GCN's Z button), I hate that the analog sticks become slippery after prolonged play, and I really hate when the analog cuts out for no reason in the middle of playing (this may be related to the fact that we have a used system, but there's still no excuse for it). I do like the concept of the L3/R3 buttons, though. That's about it. Fortunately I don't use the thing often.

Out of curiosity, are you a fellow left-handed gamer? I think that's why I dislike the dual shock. It's clearly made for right-handed gamers.
