Well, the easy response is to throw the Sony-born piece of crap in the trash and get an X-Box (light on wrestling titles, but an infintely better machine). However, if this is not a realistic alternative, try these things: - Unplug the system and let it sit for a day (unplugged!). Reconnect the system and try again. - If it's anywhere near a heat-producing appliance (particularly a cable box), move it and let it set overnight before trying again. - If you have it standing upright, set it flat on the entertainment center. Sony was so wrapped up in their "IT STANDS UPRIGHT" promotion that they forgot to mention that several different product research gropus discovered that the system destroys games and overheats when upright (because the tray is cut too wide to hold the disc firmly in place when upright). - The unfortunate truth is that if you're getting disc read error messages more than game loads, and none of these other suggestions apply to you, it's time to get a new system. Sony does still repair the units without a warranty - for $110.00!! Sadly, most of us have experienced this with a Sony gaming product. Meanwhile, our second, third and fourth system purchase inflates Sony's user base numbers, making them appear to blow away the cometition.
I hope one of these suggestions helps you out.

K, if you are still having problems.with San Andreas, try this: Remove your memory card. Start a new game. When you begin to control CJ, insert your memory card. Load up your saved game. I have done this several times and have had no problems with the read disc error.
