I wanted to do a project in which I create all the GWF 2074 guys onto a WWE video game, using the "create-a-character" feature. I originally had the idea while "Here Comes The Pain" (HCTP) was the hot game, but I thought it would be best for me to wait until the new "Smackdown Vs. Raw" (SVR) came out. Well, I now own SVR and am a bit disappointed, and find myself at a crossroads as to which game to use to complete my project. I've listed a few pros and cons of SVR, but I still can't make a final decision. Any add ons to this list, or any recommendations as to which game I should use?
SVR Pros -Has "Cut Scene" Attire -Chop Battle -Start Of Bout Competitions (Shoving Contest, Staredown, etc.) -Has more tag team and trio entrace options
SVR Cons -No Tag Team Titles -You can't pre-arrange the rosters for season -No victory celebrations (winning styles) -VERY Repetitive storylines

I think if your intent on playing with the characters in exhibition then SvR is the way, but if you want to dump all the WWE guys and have your own GWF fed then I'd do it in HCtP since you can rearrage the season mode roster.

I agree with faction. HCTP was great and after I heard how they screwed up SvR, I didn't buy it. Stick with HCTP.

I would have to say SVR is superior to HCTP, but it does have it's drawbacks.
Gameplay wise it's the best they have ever done. The counter system is better than ever, the weight detection near perfect (though only against power type moves) and the mini-games like chop battles add a lot of fun to matches. I love the clean/dirty meters.
The roster thing in season mode doesn't bother me much. But I've never been one for season mode. Same goes for the tag belts. Nothing annoyed me more in the past than pursuing the World Title only to get lumped with a partner for a run at the tag belts. And in HCTP if you chose not to tag up you typically were out a storyline for a few months.
I find the game lacking in two areas. One is difficulty. Even on Legend mode if I'm in the zone and they are countering everything I throw at them I have little fear of loosing. There are acceptions to this. I've had some great matches putting low level guys against main eventers and putting any other heavyweight against Andre.
The other is Roster. 3 of the 4 current tag champions are not in the game. The current Cruiserweight Champion is not in the game. We are missing The Hurricane, Lita, and Steven Richards from previous games. Other newer big names like Eugene didn't make the cut. Meanwhile we have under carders galore with A-Train, Chuck Polumbo, Garrison Cade, Mark Jindrack, and Hardcore Holly all in the same game. Not that some of them arn't quality wrestlers but there's no point in having them since they are not presented as such. Although I should mention that I feel HCTP had a weaker Roster than SYM.
The Legends Roster get's an A from me for Bret Hart and Andre alone. But I do miss Slaughter, Iron Sheik, Volkoff and DiBiase from last year.
As far as options are concerned, SYM has both HCTP and SVR beat. It had multiple ring attires for nearly everyone; extra ring music for Hogan, Angle, and Gunn; extra Tron Videos for Gunn, Hogan, Big Show, and Tajiri; and a bunch of cool built in videos. It seems as gameplay has gotten better the room for options has gone away.

After running a bunch of comp battles, I've come to the conclusion the the AI is second only to RAW 2 in stupidity. I designed a bunch of submission wrestlers with ground moves for logic, low Irish whips, taunting, and flying. So what do they do? They either climb the turnbuckle and taunt until they get punched or they throw the opponent anywhere they can, even if it accomplishes absolutely nothing.
However the comp gets pretty smart against players (even on easy they seem to reverse a lot, and I have a hard time reversing their moves). This is especially true in Rumbles where the comp nearly refuses to throw opponents out, but they will all gang up on you whenver they have a chance.
Finally, the targetting is aweful. When more than 2 people are in the ring, I never seem to be able to attack my opponent, even after he hits me.
Anyone else have these problems?
I don't think SvR is aweful. I see some great improvements, but the gripes are big enough to mention.

Well, I ended up selecting SVR to complete my 2074 project, and I'm happy to say that it is done, and I'm quite happy with it. Yes, the AI is still a bit off but it's workable.
If anyone would like the CAW formulas for any of the original 2074 wrestlers then just ask.
I also discovered a cool trick for getting mass experience points for your CAW's. If you'd like to know, just ask or e-mail me.

I'm very curious as to how you did your stats for the CAW's. Is everyone on the roster at max stats then?

I'm very curious as to how you did your stats for the CAW's. Is everyone on the roster at max stats then? Here's the trick: 1. Create a Super Heavyweight wrestler (or just change the weight class of any wrestler to Super Heavyweight). 2. Play in season mode until you max out all strength and durability points. Don't try to add on any of the other attributes (speed, charisma, submission, technique) 3. Copy the Super Heavyweight CAW as many times as possible. 4. Change the weight class of all of the copies to DIVA. When you do this for each copy, you'll be informed that the weight class change will subtract some attributes from the character and ask you if it's okay. Say Yes. 5. Delete all the copies except for one (so you can copy him again later if you need some more experience points. 6. In Create mode, go to "Assign Attributes" and pick one of your CAW's that you want to give more attributes to. When you select that wrestler, you'll have a load of experience points!!! For creating the 2074 wrestlers, I made up a few scales (strength =power rating, durability = PIN rating, technique =# of reversals, speed=agility rating, submission = #of submission moves), then calculated what the SVR attributes would be for the particular wrestler. In the end, Omega had the most with 92% and Torpor had the least with 68%. So, no, nobody is at max stats, although using the trick, if I wanted to do that, I easily could.
