I bought this game yesterday for my gamecube and have to say that it is awesome!!! It plays like the Wrestlemania/No Mercy games for the N64...the only thing that I find cheesy is you have to custom fit your gear e.g. sunglasses that end up almost always crooked. You should check it out!

I thought the title was Day of Reckoning. Nice to hear that the game is good, though. I still twitch involuntarily whenever I think of the time I spent playing WMXIX... I'd pick this up immediately, but the new pokémon games are coming out next week... argh! Why do the game companies always load up the back quarter of the year instead of spacing these things out? (Well, I know why, but still...) Hopefully before the end of the month.

Another question for Tommy:
How are the tag matches in Story mode? I've heard... unpleasant things.

Another question for Tommy: How are the tag matches in Story mode? I've heard... unpleasant things. They are not that bad...I've alrady won the titles with Orton and have de0fended them a few times...thge only thing wrong with the tag matches are that you don't get to control your computer partner... P.S. You were right about the name of the game guys...sorry, I just bought it...sheesh.

SMACKDOWN". They are also responsible for the Smackdown series of games the past 5 years or so. If your familiar with the series, they brought back the create a P.P.V. option.

I caved in and bought it this weekend. My biggest problem with the tag matches is that we seemed to get an awful lot of "artificial" and not a heck of a lot of "intelligence". That part on Heat where I needed to let Rhyno get the win was AGONIZING. The fact that my partner would never hit the ring to cut off my opponent's partner when I went for a pin or submission was also maddening. I also find it insane that they included Bra and Panties matches... for the FOUR Divas they bothered to include; created Divas aren't eligible for neither this nor Story Mode. Granted "real" female wrestlers would rather not bother with B&P, but the option would have been nice. Still, infinitely better than beating up security guards and construction workers, so thumbs up.

When you say you can't control you're partner do you mean that you can't actually physically control him when he's the legal man or that the yellow joystick tag partner commands from the last game are gone. If it's the latter, they're still there, you just have to hold the Z button and use the joypad instead if I remember right. (up to attack legal opponent, left to attack his partner, right to attack referee, down for double team setup). Plus, you have to love a working fire extinguisher.

Man i second that, those tag matches are madening. The fact that the opponent seems to come in every time you sneeze and your partner just stares dumbly at you has nearly broken my controller.

Also on a side note, from looking at the box I would have thought the game was called Days of our Lives

(up to attack legal opponent, left to attack his partner, right to attack referee, down for double team setup). Plus, you have to love a working fire extinguisher. Wow, where is this information? I know I had to use the in-game reminder screen to even learn how to TAG, since it isn't mentioned ANYWHERE in the manual or even the otherwise sufficient tutorial. Was it on that screen too and I missed it? I didn't play enough of WMXIX to remember any controls rom it, especially since I've done my level best to forget even owning that game. Other things that irritated me on my path to dethroning HHH: * My created character lost his spiffy-neato entrance that I worked so hard on whenever he held a title. Since I never officially lost the tag belts and never so much as dropped the IC belt (despite not actually defending it for three months), this was especially maddening. * Batista has his own music in real life. I know I've heard it -- it's sort of like a modified version of Kane's original stuff. So why, when he's the character scripted to leave Evolution in Story mode, does he always use Evolution's theme? Oh yeah, because not including his solo theme was just one more way that Yuke's spectacularly screwed up the roster on this game. * The way Molly Holly slapped around my character -- IC champ and going against HHH for the world title in six days -- during the intergender tag match on RAW the week before WM. Balance? What balance? From the Rumble on, the AI was just insane. * Speaking of which: The entire Ironman Match at WM. It's incredibly hard to discuss this match without breaking the family-friendly nature of these boards, but let's give it a shot: the AI, on normal difficulty, literally countered 3/4 of my offense, including finishers, despite my switching up my timing and method of attack, wouldn't stay down for me to apply any of my character's submissions for the majority of the match, and charged up his special meter at a rate that makes NASA scientists go "wow, that's fast". Thankfully, someone's brilliant idea of an Ironman match actually having LESS time than any other match (most matches were 30:00, the IM 15:00) made this a quick exercise in repeated frustration. For those wondering, I eventually won (on probably my 6th or 7th try) by managing to sneak into a 3-2 lead with ~15 seconds to go -- at which point I bailed out of the ring, lest I be Pedigree'd instantly. Draw = lose (as I found out once). An amusing touch: after the credits roll, "Please don't try this at home" shows up on the screen. Were I not still steaming from the frustration of taking down HHH (or UT, depending on what decision you made for your ONE choice), I would have laughed.

The manual was a big disappointment. I found out about the tag commands when I was online, searching forums, trying to find out how to beat Holly and HHH in that tag match you mentioned. It took forever but I found two interesting bits of info. Holding the Z button and pressing your control/pad (taunt pad) for the tag commands to call in your partner for the double team and increasing the sensitivity of the L&R buttons. You go into the control options and switch the sensitivity to around 3, it helps w/ your countering. I think I had to experiment to find out what each direction did in the tag commands.
The original controls in Wrestlemania for the tag commands was just the yellow joystick but they changed that to targeting this time and moved the tag commands. Something that useful, you'd think they'd have mentioned it at least in the ingame tutorials.

I'm not sure what the range is on the sensitivity, if 1 = very sensative or if 1 = least sensitive but whatever it is, you want to aim towards greater sensitivity on the buttons so you can get the counters quicker. It's like the old video games with the bad controls, you push the button and 30 seconds later your character jumps. You want to cut the reaction time down and changing the sensitivity does that I think.

I was pretty ticked about the exact same thing.

I took the Smackdown path and man oh man the game just hit a brick wall for me with Booker T in the Hell in the Cell for the #29 spot for the Royal Rumble. I had to do that match literally about 8-10 times. And it didn't get any prettier after that. Currently I cannot beat Eddie as I've tried a dozen times, but somehow he's always in Special and his WWE is always red. F 'n A.

Is Eddie your HHH equivalent? I'm not sure who's who in the SD side of the game.

Actually Eddie was the face champ that lost to Undertaker who is the leader of the New Ministry which is the stable I was forced to join. So Taker is the big heel you will face. So Eddie would then be the Y2J from RAW.

Does anyone know how to use the 3D double team irish whip grapple? It's a real pain in the arse. I know how to use all of the variant 3D neckbreaker double team moves, but the acctual Dudley Death Drop itself is different to use than the other irsh whip double team moves, where you whim 'em and then stand side by side with your partner, graple and preform the move, but with the 3D it doesn't work. On the CAW demonstration screen it looks like one tag partner is far away from the grapple, but i've tried it in-game and I can't get it to work. If anyone can help can you send an email to me at:
