A site about authors, game enthusiasts, wrestling fans trying to piece together a d20 wrestling roleplaying game. A plan to produce and distribute the game once done is in the works but they're looking for feedback and ideas to give the fans what they want. The site is here www.reality-impaired.com/d20wrestling/ New message boards up and the site is taking shape. Worth checking out. What would you like to see in a wrestling RPG?

RI,
I assume that you have some association with this project...
What things are you considering?
Why drop DX as the base?
Have you examined Kayefabe (The game...notthe concept...lol!)

That's a very safe and correct assumption about my involvement with the game. Kayfabe ,D20 Modern and primarily Champions of The Galaxy were the catalyst for the development of the game. I've been a solid fan of Filsinger's game for just over 15 years and it alone demonstrates that a game can be fun and do justice to the wrestling business in a positive way. We, the other authors and idea men, have considered using the tri stat DX system but we felt that the d20 had more to offer and was our best chance to produce a quality game. We might even include rules for the DX system if time permits. So far our game is in its "alpha" stage with classes, feats, skills, move lists, basic combat, hold/submissions, weapons, reputation all well covered but being updated and tested. Right now we're missing some elements such as prestige classes, federation running, quick match resolution, move descriptions and some other thing. It's a work in progress but it's coming along. If you, or anyone, want to contribute feel free. We welcome ideas, art, rules, homebrew characters, anything you might want to see in a wrestling RPG. We're trying to do everything by OGL so anyone can add or alter the rules since people always think they have a better house rule.

One suggestion that I would have...look at NOT using prestige classes...
Mutants & Masterminds has utilized the d20 system w/o prestige classes. I just hate the fact that some skills / abilities are cut off to me as the charactor develops.
My $.02

One thing is that I don't own Mutants and Masterminds, and I don't know if there rules are OGL. If it's not OGL then I can publish anything or i'm violating copyright law. I want to at least have a PDF to distribute so this has to be done by the book. Also if its OGL anyone can create material for the game.
I'm looking at picking up the M&M book, I'm in need of a good D20 super hero RPG anyway. I've heard nothing but good things about it. If you have it maybe you could give it a brief review in the book section. ;D

I have just purchased a game called zombie smackdown by eden although it uses a system i am not familiar with the mother book (all flesh must be eaten) does have a D20 conversion system at the back of the book but i hope your project takes off as i would prefer a pure D20 wrestling rpg

I got this too...
While I'm not impressed with the mechanics...it is well written with abilities like "Educated Feet" and "Hoss"...
LOL

Things are coming along at a slow pace. Creating a game isn't as easy as one may think. Sure we could race it out the door but who would play it if it wasn't good or for that matter: fun. We may soon distribute a few PDF's of the alpha rules for testing so we can find out how the game is from a new perspective. I've also ordered Mutants and Masterminds so things have be put on hold until we read, review ,and (my favorite) ;D test the rules. If they're good or appropriate and OGL then we'll try to integrate them to the game. Which means more delays but a better bottom line. As for Zombie Smackdown i think i'll pass but it perks my curiosity just the same.

I just registered and am waiting for my password. I've been working on something similar, though I've put it on the "back burner" for the time being; and I'm willing to do a collaboration.

Ever see Wrestle D20 by Fantages Studios? It's a d20 Modern based wrestling game that has a lot of open content you might find useful. I think RPGNow still has the parts that were released.

We were working on something like this a few years ago. Classes were basically wrestling styles (brawler, technical, power) and skills were moves. We used the class skill rule to simulate how hard it is to use moves different from your training like a power wrestler using a hurricarana or a technical wrestler trying a power bomb. Skill ranks reflected damage from the moves and the ability to counter the move if it was used against you.
We did have some prestige classes like hardcore wrestler, superstar (who used his stardom to his advantage) and manager.
We used vitality and wound points from star wars, but wp could be rolled like a pin rating in COTG.
Hope those help,
Jay

While I haven't personally purchased Zombie Smackdown, I *can* vouch for the Unisystem game mechanics as being some of the best I have ever used...just a simple "get in and get out" system, where you roll a 10 sided die and add either an attribute and a skill or an attribute (doubled) to it.
When I *can* afford Zombie Smackdown, I plan on going fullforce into a CotG adaptation...after all, CotG has featured no less than two zombie wrestlers...and with Eden's Terra Primate sourcebook, one can suss out the AniMen with a little effort...
But, different strokes for different folks...

What's zombie smackdown? I never heard of it. Is it still published?
Thanks,

Yup, it's really rather new... Put out by Eden Studios for their All Flesh Must Be Eaten game...though, most all of their sourcebooks can strip the zombies and be used as genre sourcebooks. www.allflesh.com should have more info.
