The local EB Games doesn't carry it. I just got off the phone with the employee there and there is no listing for the game there
Where can I pick up a copy of this offline?

there isn't any real life wrestlers in, due to copyright....BUT....there is another company that does rosters for games...RaveX....They are working on a roster for I believe at least WWE, NWA:TNA, and Ring of Honor....
You can't buy it offline, unless you order, then send a check/money order, i think....
I have been messing around with the editor....pretty cool....matches galore....i have created a wrestler (my Caliber Chris Champion)....have made a gimick (Next Generation NOW gimmick).....also, made a fed.....haven't really gotten so much into actually running the fed, other than the "7 days" player guide tutorial.....
My bet, if you like cotg.....and if you like wrestling....you will most likely like this game....
Again, though....the game doesn't come with any actual wrestlers though....but soon, there will be a 3rd party patch to add them....

I don't like ordering things online, but maybe I can find it offline somewhere. The William Shatner DVD "MIndMeld" (the discussion with Leonard Nimoy) was supposed to be an online exclusive for Shatner's site only, but I found a copy at Media Play! Hopefully, I can find T.E.W. offline too! Thanks for the info, I am downloading the demo now...

Now that I have gotten a bit more into TEW....
well, i personally am really enjoying it....and i never really cared much for the other games...the only wrestling sim i played more than a week was TNM back about 8 years ago.
This game handles the "backstage politics"....the actual REAL stuff in wrestling....
You are the promoter, you set up the matches, book the angles and feuds.
You have to deal with unhappy wrestlers, because they are only a Mid-Carder skilled wrestler, but because they think (attitude stat) they are better, they complain about losing to someone else.
You can create your own wrestling promotion, and try to compete vs. other feds througout the world. These nations are U.S., Canada, Britain, Japan, Australia, and Central America (Mexico)....
There are different ways your federation can be portrayed:
1. Sports Entertainment (think WWE/WWF) 2. Pure (think Japanese promotions) 3. Cutting Edge (probably most comparible to maybe Ring of Honor) 4. Garbage (probably most like "official" Backyard Wrestling Federations 5. Harcore (think ECW) 6. Hybrid (just a mix of wrestling styles) 7. Lucha (Lucha Libre style high-flying wrestling, think Mexican wrestling) 8. Traditioal (think mid-80's Mid-Atlantic NWA) 9. Womans (a womans wrestling promotion)
Also, each of these types of promotions, have their own core audiences, advantages/disadvantages.....Each region, has states/sections, and each state has different amounts of "old school" wrstling fans (traditional feds), hardcore, casual (Sports Entertainment), ect....your promotion will grow by word of mouth, IF you put on good shows...
Each wrestler has several different stats (mic skill, chain wrestling skills, mat wrestling skills, charisma, ect ect ect....) Younger wrestlers will "learn" (there stats will go up) when you have them wrestle veteran wrestlers....Other Promotions can (and will) attempt to raid your roster for your top stars)....
Ummm.....there is a robust match editor...wrestler editor, promotion editor....you can edit sponsors, gimmicks, magizines, other non-wrestling shows (your wrestlers sometimes will "appear" on talk shows and stuff).
You can create wrestlers (I created a wrestler called Caliber Chris Champion....but he is asking for quite a bit of money from my small $10k starting fed, but i am still trying to sign him)
ummm....there is just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much in this game that you can do...and as I understand it, there are little things that you will realize once you are getting more intot he game.
Sure, the learning curve is tough....but you can minimize the screen, go to the forums, ask the question....i have usually had my questions answered within 10-15 minutes....
I won't lie to you, this game more than likely will not be what non-wrestling fans would want to spend time on. But, then again, there is a TON of strategy involved. For example, you are a small Traditional based promotion. You have a strong core fan-base in the Great Lakes Region....now you want to expand into the South East region of the US...how will you go about doing this? You need to first make sure there are fans there that want to see your product. You decide to hold an event in Kentucky. You decide that you will only use small amount of hype over the course of 2 weeks.....This costs different amounts of money than say All out hype for a full year....(much much more). When the show comes up, you decide then to book your matches. You decide who wins what matches, how (by cheating, clean pinfall/submission, by blotched run-in, ect.). You also set up segments (interviews hyping wrstlers, upcoming matches, ect.) YOu also set up different types of angles (concession stand brawls, romance angles, ect ect)....You can set up dark matches (Pre-show matches) and pre show interviews. These are matches/segments that happen that won't be "shown"...instead, they help train the wrestlers involved. During all the set up, you have to deal with wrestlers complaining about losing to another, or wrestlers not wanting to be involved in a particular (risky) angle....
Once you have that done, you run the show....obviously, the excitement (suspense) doesn't come from the question, "Who will win", but rather, "how will the fans react? will they like the wrestlers gimmick, will wrestlers put on a good match, telling a good in-ring story? Will the event (card) be an overall success...will it help my overness (how much fans want to see your product) in that area...will i gain more fans?"
Like I said, the more I play it, the more I find out that this is an incredible game....Adam Ryland (the dev) has done a great job here. From what i understand, he did this version from teh ground up. There are some bugs, but he has put out 4 patches within 4 days since release (one patch was a bunch of angle additions). He wasn't able to put in the real wrestlers, due to copyright laws and such, but like someone posted above, they are in the works from a 3rd party.
This is a great wrestling sim, but not a sim for the casual wrestling fan, and very much, probably not one for the non-wrestling fan....but, you may still like it, due to it's inherit strategy (trying to become the #1 wrestling organization in the World is like conquering the world with all-out total warfare, just more subtle)....
Try the demo....i warn you though, the demo is only for 24 hours.....not 24 game hours, but real life 24 hours....There is talk that they are going to maybe change the demo time to longer (3 days perhaps).....
I myself have only experienced one bug so far (game crashed when adding a new title to your promotion). BUT, that was fixed in patch 4.
There are of course some problems...but none that i can really think of....And the problems so far, that i know of, has, or are in the works for being fixed....on the day of release (I believe it was the day of release....at least a the day after, i think), Adam Ryland was on the forums for 12 hours, helping ppl tweak their settings and offering tech support personally....12 HOURS.....
My personal promotion, i created the Heritage Wrestling Alliance, a Traditionally based promotion, based in the Great Lakes Region. I am in the process of attempting to hire some wrestlers that I think will fit in to my style of promotion (wrestlers even have different "styles" of fighting that fits into certain types of promotions). I was so close to hiring a guy I was going to push as my Main Eventer, but another fed outbid me for him. So, I am in negotiations with Caliber Chris Champion (hopefully, I will sign him). Once I get up to 8-10 wrestlers, I will run my first event, and hopefully begin expansion into the south east US.
Hopefully, my thoughts on the game are decent enough for ppl to get a feel for what the game is....there are too many pros to try to list (as what I have listed, are just a small tiny amount)....
The cons: learning curve (but for wrestling fans, shouldn't be TOO MUCH of a problem), text based (virtually, no, NO graphics really at all, BUT, you can create logos for feds, and pics for wrestlers). There are still some bugs out there of course....tough to get into unless you are really wanting to put some time into it, otherwise you may get pissed and give up on it. It takes more than EWR to succeed. Oh, and you have to really think in this game....although, depending on who you are, that may not be a con to the game....
Enjoy!!
