Here's some speculation about an under-explored 2118 event that could have interesting ramifications in 2119: why is Mandrill so frightened by Epoch? My theory is that Epoch can somehow control AniMen, which explains Slave Beast. When this is revealed (perhaps in 2119), the GWF AniMen initially revolt, but get cowed by his power. Of course, one "AniMan" would be immune... which may cross-over into a current CPC angle...

That is an interesting theory Chris, one that is much more plausible the the one I have thought up: Epoch has an equivalent to the Ultimate Nullifier strapped to Mandrill's posterior. Talk about a major coup, this is the exact reason conquerors and scoundrels should not go out drinking with their second in command. Especially when it is the second's idea.

What that theory lacks in plausibility it more than makes up for in hilarity. ;D

Can someone elaborate on who Epoch is and his role? I still haven't ordered the new editions yet.

Can someone elaborate on who Epoch is and his role? I still haven't ordered the new editions yet. Epoch is the new leader of the colonizers, mandrill is playing the role of second in command. mandrill seems to fear epoch.

Mandrill has basically handed his leadership role over to Epoch to the surprise of everyone.
I have a much more simple theory. I think Mandrill knows he doesn't have the stuff in the ring so he's slowly trying to erase that target on his back.

Egads! Mandrill showing fear? Turning over the leadership? Taking the role of 2nd in command? What is the galaxy coming to? Does Epoch wrestle or is he a manager?

Pure wrestler I believe.
Though Mandrill is taking on more of a managerial role.

Ah! I see why Mandrill would be nervous. My how the tables have turned. Mandrill has also lost a step in the ring, i thought Animen aged slowly, how come Mandrill(not even around 20 years yet) has aged faster than Wolf(who wrestled for 30 and got better with age)?

He probably started wrestling at an older age than Wolf and Wolf also benefitted from the Cleansing before he came to the GWF.

I think Mandrill is just using Epoch. Mandrill tells Nefarus, Swarm and Minotaur he's doing this for the good of the team and to trust him. I think when Epoch least realizes it he's gonna get taken down by Mandrill and friends.

Mandrill always has something up his sleeve. I do believe that he is using Epoch, trying to find a weakness in him to use it against him. Mandrill knows Epoch could probably beat him in the ring so he is trying to get the mental advantage.

Perhaps Epoch is going to metamorph into a bigger, badder bug?

I think that Mandrill has a master plan and Epoch is just a pawn in the plan.

Maybe Mandrill was sort of a figurehead, and Epoch always had the actual power?

The Epoch and Mandrill story is one of my personal favorite angles. The history will go back at least two decades. Watching Mandrill change abruptly from an arrogant conqueror to a sniveling coward would be enough to make anyone curious. It has also played out very nicely in my fed where Mandrill is always avoiding being in the ring with his enemies, which creates a major fan pop when he's finally cornered by guys like Tauran and Kill Prey.
Pretty much the whole story about Mandrill and Epoch will be revealed in 2119. The same for Star Warrior and Bloodline, which is a lot considering that NEW BEGINNING will be a landmark game edition for many other reasons. I really can't wait to finish it and release it.
