Here's something I posted on the Cotgfanzone board awhile back, I figure I may as well bring it over here. This is a match I've been working on for awhile, based on the triple cage matches WCW ran in 2000 and seen in that masterpiece of American cinema, "Ready to Rumble." It's a pretty long and complicated match, but that's how I like 'em. Let me know what you think.
TOWER OF TERROR MATCH
Three Cosmic Cages are stacked on top of one another, each reducing in size. The bottom cage completely covers the ringside area (a la Hell in a Cell). The second level is strewn with weapons--among them a table, a Stun Rod, and other plunder. The top cage is about 3/4 the size of a standard GWF ring, with the title belt (or other object of desire) hanging over it from the ceiling. Both wrestlers (or teams) begin in the ring and use ladders to climb through trapdoors in order to make their way through the Tower. To win, a wrestler must climb through the roofs to the top cage, grab the prize, and then climb back down and out the door of the cage at the very bottom!
Cage Ratings are used throughout the match. The match begins in the ring, where Earth Ladder Match rules are used. (The size of the cage allows for brawls to take place outside the ring.) When a wrestler "wins" the Ladder Match, assume that he climbs a ladder and reaches the next level. Furthermore, assume the wrestler on defense also manages to make his way up (Use your imagination to figure out what happens!*) The battle then continues on the second level, with the "winning" wrestler continuing his assault on Level 2 Offense. On the second level, use the Hardcore Chart below for all chart situations (Ropes, Turnbuckle, etc.) A successful pinfall means that the aggressor has made his way up to the top level. For the third level, use normal Cosmic Cage rules, with a pinfall this time meaning a wrestler has grabbed the belt.
* Yes, I know this is an extremely lame rule, but it's all I could think of to guarantee that the match would come off as it would in real life. Defeats the purpose of multiple levels if there's a possibility of a wrestler kicking the stew out of his opponent, then climbing straight up to the top unabated, doesn't it? If anyone can think of a better alternative, I'm all for it.
HARDCORE LEVEL CHART
2 The wrestlers battle through the cage door and take their fight to the ledge of the second level! The wrestler on offense tries to knock the opponent off the cage onto the concrete floor! Roll one die to see what happens. Even Roll - The wrestler on defense falls off the cage onto the concrete floor! He is badly injured (roll one die with a minimum injury of 5 cards) so add 3 to his Cage Rating! The wrestler on offense proceeds to climb to the top of the Tower and grab the belt. He rolls on the descent chart. Odd Roll - The wrestler on defense fights off the wrestler on offense and both men go back inside the cage. The wrestler on defense rolls on Level 3 Offense.
3 The wrestler on offense takes the ladder and spikes it directly into his downed opponent’s fore-head! The wrestler on defense adds 1 to his Cage Rating. The wrestler on offense continues his assault on Level 3 Offense.
4 The wrestler on offense attempts to whip his opponent into the cage wall, but the wrestler on defense reverses the move and sends face-first him into the cage wall instead! The wrestler on defense takes over on Level 3 Offense.
5 The wrestler on offense clobbers the wrestler on defense with a Stun Rod! The wrestler on offense rolls on Level 3 Offense or again on this chart.
6 The wrestler on defense reaches for a kendo stick and manages to crack the wrestler on offense in the head with it! The wrestler on defense recovers and rolls on Level 3 Offense or on this chart.
7 The wrestler on offense grabs a chair and smashes it into the wrestler on defense’s face! The wrestler on offense rolls on Level 3 Offense.
8 As the wrestler on offense prepares his next move, the wrestler on defense finds a fire extinguisher and sprays him in the face with it! As he’s temporarily blinded, the wrestler on defense comes back and rolls on Level 3 Offense.
9 It’s up to you, promoter! Think of a deadly weapon for the wrestler on offense to use in devas-tating fashion on his opponent! The wrestler on defense adds 1 to his Cage Rating, and the wrestler on offense continues his assault on Level 3 Offense or on this chart.
10 The wrestler on offense tries to use a chain to choke out the wrestler on defense, but the wrestler on defense manages to punch him with the chain, and it’s the wrestler on offense who ends up getting choked out! The wrestler on offense adds 1 to his Cage Rating, and the wrestler on defense comes back on Level 3 Offense.
11 The wrestler on offense levels his opponent by clotheslining him with a 2x4! The wrestler on defense adds 1 to his Cage Rating and rolls on Level 3 Defense.
12 The wrestler on offense sets up a table and attempts to power bomb his opponent through it! Roll one die to see what happens: Even Roll - The wrestler on defense is crushed by a devastating power bomb through the table! The wrestler on offense attempts to climb to the third level. The wrestler on defense rolls his pin! Odd Roll - The wrestler on defense counters and backdrops his opponent through the table! The wrestler on defense seizes the opportunity and attempts to climb to the third level! The wrestler on offense rolls his pin.
DESCENT FROM THE TOWER OF TERROR
Just because a wrestler has managed to climb through and grab the belt doesn’t mean he’s won the match yet! Once a wrestler has grabbed the prize at the top of the Tower, he then rolls on this Descent Chart to see if he makes it out of the bottom cage. On this chart, the wrestler in possession of the prize is referred to as the Aggressor. The wrestler losing at the time is referred to as the Victim. Before rolling, subtract the Aggressor’s current Cage Rating from that of the Victim. The difference, whether it is positive or negative, is then added on to the die roll. The better shape the Victim is in, the greater his chances of a comeback! Assume the Aggressor is beginning his descent as the Victim lies in the middle of the cage in the top level and roll to find out what happens!
Finally, if the match continues after rolling on this chart, assume that the prize stays put at the level where the next offensive roll takes place. Any further pinfalls at that level result in the Aggressor picking up the belt and rolling on this chart.
DESCENT CHART
Negative Result - As the Aggressor comes down with the prize, the Victim manages to recover and knock the him off the third level, sending him crashing down to the mesh floor on the level below! The Victim then picks up the prize and begins to descend! The Aggressor rolls his Pin. If he is pinned, then the Victim escapes the bottom cage and wins the match. If no Pin, the Victim continues his attack on Level 3 Offense at the Hardcore level of the Tower.
0-2 The Victim catches the Aggressor with a low blow as he descends back into the third level! The Aggressor drops the prize and goes down, allowing the Victim to pick it up and attempt the descent himself! The Victim rolls on this chart.
3-4 As the Aggressor begins his descent, the Victim makes a recovery and attacks him from behind! Roll one die: 1-2 - The Victim takes over on the top level, rolling on Level 3 Offense. 3-4 - The Victim takes over on the Hardcore Level, rolling on Level 3 Offense. 5-6 - The Victim takes over on the bottom level, rolling on Level 3 Offense.
5-6 The Aggressor begins his descent, but is met at the top level by a recovered Victim! The Aggressor tries to slip past his opponent and continue his descent! Roll again on this chart.
7-9 The Aggressor begins his descent, making his way past his helpless opponent! The opponent rolls his Pin. If he is pinned, then the Aggressor escapes the bottom cage and wins the match. If he is not pinned, the Aggressor continues his assault on the Hardcore level of the Tower, rolling on Level 3 Offense.
10-12 As the Aggressor begins his descent, the Victim makes a recovery and attacks him from behind. However, the Aggressor stops and fights off the attack! Roll one die: 1-2 - The Aggressor takes over on the top level, rolling on Level 3 Offense. 3-4 - The Aggressor takes over on the Hardcore Level, rolling on Level 3 Offense. 5-6 - The Aggressor takes over on the bottom level, rolling on Level 3 Offense.
13+ The Aggressor descends past the helpless Victim, who is in no shape to go after him! The Aggressor climbs down to the bottom level and triumphantly exits the door for the victory! The Aggressor wins.
Those are the rules. Now wake up.
