Grass roots “IGNORE TNA IMPACT INITIATIVE” rapidly gaining steam and generating discussion and debate among frustrated wrestling fans


As you may or may not already be aware, there is a rapidly growing grass roots movement afoot among the internet wrestling fan community to boycott this Thursday's Impact program, airing on 8/16.


Dubbed the "Ignore Impact Initiative", the approach and desired outcome is a positive one. The pro-active “voice of the people” is designed to send a clear, strong message to TNA management regarding widespread dissatisfaction over the recent booking trends and sharp swing back towards intelligence insulting, cheesy gimmickry and outright illogical marketing tactics. This, following an earlier summer series of shows where compelling wrestling based episodes were aired and tested - and without question proven beyond a shadow of doubt to garner consistently higher ratings for the promotion while offering itself as a true alternative for eager viewers.


This viral word-of-mouth boycott has quickly generated an amazingly strong reaction among thousands of frustrated wrestling fans and is spreading as we speak to thousands more. Starting within the talkimpact.com community on the evening of 8/13, the movement has within literally less than a 24 hour period spiked significant net traffic and publicity for the cause. This morning found multiple sports and wrestling hotlines, fan blogs and forums around the world discussing the crusade for change within TNA Wrestling. There is great interest in spotlighting the story from multiple wrestling radio shows, such as Between The Ropes for one prime example, and Brian Alverez of Figure 4 Weekly devoted a full seven minutes to the Ignore Impact Initiative to open his latest audio update today.

Haven't the majority of wrestling fans been boycotting TNA for five years now?

In tribute I've turned on Impact because this is the most retarded boycott since the gas boycott.

My hope, all along, was for TNA to be the alternative to the WWE, much like the NWA was in the mid 80s. Sadly, it never materialized and that's a shame.

They've did castoffs from the WWE, cheesy gimmicks...nothing has really made a dent in the ratings. Maybe they should try something that wrestling fans have been saying. Can it really hurt???

Ineffectual and not worth the effort. I think TNA is sorely disappointing overall, but I'm going to keep watching. Call me a glutton for punishment.

All I have to say is this... WILL TNA WRESTLING LISTEN TO IT'S FANS ANYMORE!? I would say NO!, they will do what they want and whether you be a Internet Mark or just a Casual Fan, in the end they are selling their product and not yours. Oh well LIFE GOES ON...

It has been at times, but tough times are here and thats the way it goes... and in the end does it really matter in the grand theme of life, we'll see.

Right or Wrong, in the end it's in that persons eye's what they think is good or not, I watch both the WWE and TNA and I don't see a perfect or top notch product every time from these two companies, so in the end we still watch and take away from it what we want.

At what poinbt has TNA been awesome? It's had a few stretches of moderately good but awesome?

They did have the opportunity for 2006/2007 to be two very good years with LAX and Samoa Joe. Instead it turned into the years of WWE Castoffs and, just like everything else, during TNA's lifespan turned out to be a huge dissapointment.

Atleast with the WWE you're going to get a minimum of 3-4 awesome PPVs a year and the RAWs from Royal Rumble to Wrestlemania are generally off the charts.

With TNA you hope for one solid PPV and five to six good Impacts a year.

Neither company is perfect or top notch but to honestly put WWE in the same boat as TNA is laughable.

While I was out of town for work and very bored I watched TNA for the first time in a while.... and saw the Angle Family and Pac Man Jones gets massive screen time, which two potentially good matches were very short and interrupted by commercials...

I definately won't be watching again for a while, there's really no wrestling to see.

Glad I had brought a couple RoH DVDs to wash my eyes out with.
