Update on NWA title situation
by Dave Meltzer
The finish of tonight's TNA main event, where it appeared going off the air that Kurt Angle had won the NWA title in a three-way, will end up resulting in an announcement the title will be held up. The announcement will be made at the first hour of the Impact tapings tomorrow night.
This will set the stage for the split. The NWA title will return to the auspices of the NWA. TNA will create the TNA heavyweight title which will be decided in a King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary on 6/17 in Nashville.
They vacated the title AGAIN? How many times is this now?

No Swarm, you got it all wrong. Now they're going to have a SIX WAY match for the vacant title! Which is better than the three-way (twice as good) and THREE TIMES as good as a normal match,
Seriously though, this is garbage booking. This is Wrestlecrap material here.

They vacated the title AGAIN? How many times is this now? After looking it up on Wikipedia, it is the 10th time that the title has been without a champion. Keep in mind that this is for the entire history of the NWA title, not just the TNA years.

With the NWA ending it's relationship with TNA, I'm not sure they had much of a choice. Although I suppose they could have just carried over recognition of Angle and Team 3D as the first TNA brand Champions.
This is only the third time the Title has been held up in the history of TNA. The first was when Dan Severn was stripped because he could not defend at the inaugural TNA event. The second was when Jarrett won the Title from Christian in a King of the Mountain. Wrong doing was investigated and the title was returned to Jarrett.
Technically, TNA has not stripped anyone of the title. The NWA Board stripped Christian and Team 3D of the NWA Titles Sunday before the Sacrifice Pay Per View. TNA just simply still held their scheduled matches and didn't address the situation. What they should do is declare Christian and Team 3D as the first TNA Champions and Angle as the second TNA World Champion. However, yes, the rumor is they will hold up the World Title on Impact. Sort of odd since there is no World Title to hold up. Christian was already not the Champion going into the match last night.

So when does Jarrett win the new TNA Title?
Take care,

I'd like to thank Swarm for doing his best to keep the TNA forum going.

This all could have been solved if they had just done the smart thing when TNA was created, had TNA belts. Not NWA belts.
Man, I should book TNA.
While they're at it, this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of the X Division title.
This belt is meaningless and nobody cares who has it. Nobody that has won it recently, except Samoa Joe has gotten any kind of a push after losing it.
