I already posted it in the indies, but what the hey...
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling informed Ring of Honor today that effective immediately, all TNA contracted talents have been pulled from scheduled and future ROH bookings.
With the departure of Christopher Daniels last week, that would mean that former ROH champions Homicide and Austin Aries are no longer be allowed to appear at Ring of Honor events and are already done with the company.
The expected ROH return of Samoa Joe later this year, which was foreshadowed when Joe defeated current ROH champion Takeshi Morishima the night before Morishima won the title, is also off the books.
TNA made the call ROH's announcement yesterday that they signed a deal to begin airing taped PPV events on 7/1. The first PPV will be taped on 5/12 in New York City at the Manhattan Center.
TNA sources acknowledged that the decision will likely upset ROH fans, but felt they had no choice after learning about ROH's PPV expansion yesterday via the Internet. There's no word why the pulled talents couldn't appear on matches that wouldn't be aired on the taped PPV events.
ROH booker Gabe Sapolskly declined comment on the situation when contacted this morning, but given the way the ROH storylines have phased out TNA performers, this likely was not an unexpected move.

This has been coming for a while, but is still sad...
I wonder is Joe, Aries, Daniels et al will stay with TNA long term, or head back?

This has been coming for a while, but is still sad... I wonder is Joe, Aries, Daniels et al will stay with TNA long term, or head back? If they leave the TNA contracts, merchendise money, and cushy schedule of TNA behind to go back to ROH, sign them up for idiots of the century. Seriously, if Joe stayed in ROH he would be celebrated as the greatest thing since Lou Thesz by a vocal minority of fans on the internet, but would I see his face in the form of an action figure on the Wal-Mart shelves? Joe said once that he turned down the WWe to go with TNA, which is fine. It's apples and oranges. A major company and the distant number two. A person can make plenty of money in either. One more than the other, but TNA suits his style better. ROH pays out a few hundred bucks an appearance. It's great for part-timers to get over with a discriminating crowd, but no one in their right mind would make a career decision of staying there over a national company. Staying in TNA and taking non-televised spot show matches will pay off the bills far better than having a group of east coast fans chant "this is awesome" at your match. Case in point, no one outside of wrestling has ever heard of Bryan Danielson. My eight-year old nephew who doesn't watch wrestling knows who Joe is because he's seen his action figure in the store.

Yeah, I suppose you're right.. wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
I would be interested to see what the pay scale difference is, though.

Since Danielson has had a lot of press on the NWA site recently, I'm not sure how much longer he'll stay in ROH.

Isn't this, basically, the same argument that Swarm always makes about the WWE and everyone gets worked up about?

I don't think anyone's arguing with "Guys should be able to go where they'll make the most money and not be heckled for it."

Who is the Blue Demon and why does he want me to drink Full Throtle? Big Time Man, I hope you're joking. I refuse to believe.........I just hope you're joking. And on to serious questions, choosing TNA over the WWe is a personal career choice and it is a sound one. A person can make a living with either company and TNA's schedule and what they offer is more attractive to some than what one the other place offers. ROH is an indy group that offers another show to work on weekends. No contract money, nothing in the way of merchendise deals. Just $200 or thereabout (plus transportation expenses in some cases) for the more known guys, to do a show that has very good internet buzz and will help get exposure for a wrestler to get booked to do other independent shows. But they have really good internet press. I'm not raining on anyone's party here, but I know guys who've worked for ROH and this was pretty much the consensus opinion.

American Dragon would make a fine WWE referee and he would make more money. Danielson: One, two, three! Wrestler gets up and celebrates. Danielson: Hey, you have till five!
