Rumor last night from the HOF is that when WWE was in talks with Samoa Joe it was to bring him in as part of the Spirit Squad, not the Umaga gimmick, which according to HHH, was always Eddie Faut's gimmick.
This makes way more sense. I could totally see Joe or "JOEY!" as the fat male cheerleader. If the rumors about him coming to the E when his contract is up I hope it's part of the returning Spirit Squad. He would be hilarious.

It's a funny story and would've been funny but I'm calling B***s**t

Yep, it's bull. Spirit squad was Elijah's idea, as I recall, and they took it from him because they wanted it to be a prototypical all-white, suburban male cheerleader sort of deal. There was never any talk like that at all. In fact, Joe had ended talks with them before the Squad was even thought of.
April fool's again.

Elijah Burke is awesome. Thank god they didn't set his career back a few years by having him appear on TV in that gimmick.

Burke probably benefitted more from not doing that angle.
