When compared to the past few weeks, I thought TNA was pretty decent tonight. I liked the "mini Royal Rumble" thing. Jumbled booking or no, this whole Tomko-Steiner alliance/rift is kind of amusing.

I watched RAW. What happened on TNA?

I've been something of an idiot this week with our DVR, so I failed to record RAW (apparently, "Thursday Night Raw" was treated as a separate program from Monday Night Raw -- should have figured that).
Steiner and Angle jawed at each other. Steiner - Tomko got into a bit backstage. LAX squashed Shark Boy and Norman Smiley Stupid arm-wrestling contest between Jacqueline and Gail Kim (Kim won)
But what made the show decent was basically a royal rumble (1 minute entries instead of 2) for #1 contender. I'm a sucker for battle royals so I enjoyed it, even with the annoying TWO commercial interruptions. Sting did well....Abyss was good....Tomko looked solid in what was like his second 'match'......came down to Steiner and Tomko who ganged up on Joe....Steiner/Tomko got into it again...Joe eliminated Steiner and then beat Tomko for the #1.
Not great, but better than the past couple weeks.
Oh yeah, and a wheelchaired Konnan still earns his paycheck with great mic skills.

So now they are stealing matches from Vince too...maybe next week they can run a Vince Russo vs. David Hasselhoff hair vs. hair match.

Better yet, they could have a Vince Russo vs. whoever match where the loser is actually killed.

I was actually disappointed in the Gauntlet match, simply because I was expecting a gauntlet match, not a Royal Rumble knockoff.
I just found this show to be really bad, from the time Scott Steiner came out until the end when Kurt Angle jumped in to help a guy who was outnumbered 3-1. A guy who last month he was threatening to break his girlfriend's ankle.
I have never really gone in for the fantasy booking that a lot of people do, because pro wrestling has so many variables, but TNA has gotten so horrible lately that it is really hard to even make a suggestion or two that would just slightly upgrade the product.

The only suggestion needed to upgrade the product is the removing of Russo from any decision making that has anything to do with a wrestling angle/match/ring/promotion.
May Heyman save them.

Looking at your once-again hilarious avatar....just reminds me, and I think Swarm mentioned this a couple weeks back, there was a time that imho Scott Steiner was one of the most talented wrestlers period. Back in those long black-haired days when he and Rick teamed up....that guy was outstanding.
Goes to show what bulking up to gross proportions will do.

Can anyone think of anyone who had that remarkable turnaround from being one of the most talented to one of the least talented. I can't think of one. Just think of how big a name Scott Steiner could have been had he kept his original physique with the ariel game and not bulked up. He really could have been like top ten alltime great. Instead, he's one of the biggest jokes in the industry.

The Steiner Brothers were one of the all time greats. I remember a frankensteiner given to Beau Beverly that made me just cringe. It was perfectly done and perfectly sold. It was just a perfectly excuted move. Scott Steiner of old had talent leaps and bounds above MOST of the men he competed against at least in the USA.
Now he is a roid out freak with a heart tattoo on his chest. As dave said one of the biggest jokes in the industry. Wow do times change.

I'm sure he'd argue that going hardcore muscular propelled him -- to world championship/main event calibur.
But yeah, he went from incredibly talented to incredibly clumsy. And, while I don't wish it on him, he's one of those guys you'd expect to read a headline about dying in his 40s.
