They are reporting that the consultant may wind up being Scott Steiner. Thye've played up the fact that he is someone that had been close to Angle, etc. Heck, I don't recall ever seing these two in the same ring. How stupid is this. Oh, yeah, it's TNA,

I am a nonviolent person, but if I met Russo I think that I would have to punch him in the mouth.

Although, there could be something there with a stable of Christian as the chicken-you-know-what heel surrounded by a group of roided up monsters. Then his challengers would have to go through his "Roid Rage" team to get to him and his title.
Unfortunately, TNA is playing it liket there is some hidden connection between Steiner and Angle that we all know is bs. Maybe Steiner put some bullets in one of Angel's relatives years ago and his time away has been him doing his time in prison. Ahh, TNA, I shake my fist at you.

Steiner was never "great" in the ring to begin with. And in recent years his skills have declined. The one thing Steiner does bring to the table is his mic ability. He still can put on great promos that leave you believing the guy is actually crazy.
It's a hell of a lot better than bringing Goldberg back. That would be the worst thing possible IMO.

DMK, I have to disagree. Steiner was VERY good in his glory days teaming with Rick. At one time in the early 90s he was considered one of the best in-ring guys in the world. Ironically the perception of him then was that he had great skills but lacked charisma. When he started putting on size for the sake of freakish size, his mobility diminished and his skills suffered. But I like Steiner for his over-the-top personality and just the spectacle of his act unleashed.
Anyone who was paying attention would've figured out Christian was talking about Steiner with his "first hint". Did anyone notice the timing of Tomko doing the two-tone beard ala Steiner to coincide with "the hint"? As lame and subtle as the idea and execution of it was, that WAS supposed to be the first hint.

Steiner was never "great" in the ring to begin with. You need to watch some old WCW tapes of the Steiner Brothers in matches vs. Doom, The Road Warriors, the SST, and in Japan. At one time, Scott Steiner was argubaly the best wrestler on the planet.

I don't know how'd they do that when Steiner is six years older unless they say that he was Angle's mentor.

Maybe they took steroids and pain killers together in some hotel one night. That would be my guess.

IF it turns out to be Scott Steiner, that would be a major disappointment. He already has Tyson Tomko in the line up, and I cannot see an intelligent way to incorporate Scott Steiner in the scenario. Personally, I would love to see the consultant being someone... ok, anyone else. Personally, I would love to see the consultant turn out to be Bobby "The Brain" Heenan - tell me he wouldn't be over in TNA and that the company could benefit from his experience, wit and work ethic.
Now, here's my opinion of Vince Russo. Vince Russo is a very creative writer and can generate a lot of good ideas. However, he should never be a head writer. Of all of the writers in wrestling, I see a lot of my GWF booking style coming from him. We both have a tendency to go over the top in booking, have a strong opinion of wrestlers we like, and have a knack for obsessing over the midcard. And to his credit, he has the ability to make the mid card matches and wrestlers interesting. But experience has shown that while he can generate a lot of ideas, he cannot focus them into one great vision for the company. I'm not saying that as a knock on the guy. A lot of his ideas are good, but not all of them should be used. He is someone who should be on a writing staff, as his ideas are a strong point he can bring to the table, but having him run the show is not best for the company. Good worker, bad champion.
Hmmm - how could this consultant angle suck worse?
I got it - the consultant is going to be either Shane Douglas or Larry Zybysko, and the connection is Pittsburgh. Sweet, sweet Pittsburgh.
Ugh.

I had Steiner figured at the first clue too -- the whole two-toned beard. The glasses clue works as well. Plus, after watching that program with the beard and making my mind up that it was Steiner, the next day on the newswire they talked about Steiner re-signing with TNA. Good timing.
I don't have a huge problem with him coming back. In the grand scheme of bringing back names from the past, it could be a lot worse.
I wonder if he got a contract to stand around and not actually wrestle, like apparently Tomko has.
Oh wait -- how can you wrestle anyway when 75% of the program is drama now?
