I'm away from the house for most of the weekend, and probably won't see Impact until Monday while I work. I'm interested in what y'all thought about the show, though. Good? Not good?

I thought it was good, but not their best... this was the last 11pm iMPACT! and I'm going to say they wanted to save the best from the tapings for the Prime Time Debut and a friend who was at the tapings said the Barbed Wire Six-Sides of Steel Match was AWESOME! This weeks show has some solid in-ring action and some nice storyline build-ups... next week will be a BARNBURNER!

The Good: I like the fact that they are making the World title important. The mini-tourney or Fight for the Right is an idea I like. Guys in the ring trying to see who gets the shot. Abyss winning is a bit predictable but a good first opponent for Sting. Christian's interference made sense and he should be the next guy in line.
LAX are great tag champions. Konnan's mic work has been controversial but very good. Joe v. Angle should be very good as well. Focus on in-ring action, interviews, and wrestling. No D list losers or lame "comedy".
The Bad: Character development is still lacking. There will be no excuse in the 2 hr. format. Why did Angle attack Joe? Maybe he wanted to go after the toughest guy in TNA to establish dominance. Are the Naturals heels? Do we care? Is this what it means to be Franchised? By the way, Douglas is quite the overated talent, his interviews consist of horse screaming that makes no sense. Why is Sabin still with Jerry Lynn? I still don't get why AJ won the X belt so quickly. It would have been better served to play out Sabin's heel turn over a longer time. His interference was great and he is %100 better as a heel. James Gang. Just stop trying to rip WWE. How about just putting on a better wrestling show.

TNA will only be two hours for the debut/move. After that, back to a one hour show and the same writing problems.
I liked the three way match. Everything else was sort of predictable and that was the least interesting AJ/Abyss match ever.

Like they need to hurry and show everything the have as quickly as they can to convince a network to keep them...wait that is what's happening. TNA unlike the WWE doesn't have the luxury of doing things at a slower pace becasue they may not have time to play it all out. I have one thought on Shane Douglas...he was never as good as he thinks he was but was better than alot people give him credit for. I don't care either way. I like the Nats however and would enjoy them destroying 3D to put themselves into the next level.

The Bad: Character development is still lacking. There will be no excuse in the 2 hr. format. ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! They have great action, but instead of giving guys who need the character development, they give it to the James Gang!! Give Sabin some of their time!!! I hope 2 hours really helps them! Lord knows we need another strong promotion!

we already have one. it's called ECW. Russo is no savior and TNA is not ever going to compete with the WWE.
It's just not.

I'm sure you already knew this Rob since you are the smartest guy on the board....but ECW is part of the WWE brand... But thanks for your opinion on TNA! It's always insightful and helpful!!!

So they will still have the same problem developing their characters.

If that is the case, they need to get rid of the deadweight (i.e. James Gang) and develop guys like Sabin, Shelly, etc. The choice is theirs...I'm rooting for them!

Jeff, Dixie, get on the freaking horn...this is the man that will turn your business around!!! Brilliant observations! I'm shocked the whole wrestling world just can't agree!

Shame that the 2 hour program is just a hot shot angle as well.
ECW has been my favorite wrestling show for the past few months. Aside from some Diva T & A, which certainly isn't bad now and then, they stick to wrestling and moving the story forward. RAW has been in a major slump and I'm not sure if Smackdown is still on. I think the one hour show is just an excuse. ECW seems to be able to get guys like CM Punk, Thorn, even Matt Stryker over as characters. It's only because TNA feels that they have to get 30 guys in on one show. Just pick some guys to build with and lose the dead weight.

That really was well said mwjergs. Through repetition and patience ECW has developed a cast of new stars and characters beyond just rehashing the old ECW.If you read a recap of the shows, they don't have more then 4 or 5 things happening in any one hour, but that's a perfect amou t for one hour and nothing feels like it was just jammed onto the screen. Honestly, TNA would be well-served to cut a big chunk of their roster and quit the Cash TV booking.

I finally got a chance to watch this show today, I think this was a pretty good show. The ring work was pretty good all around, and I'll take AJ vs. Abyss in a TV main event. The angle with Christian during the main event was solid, and Bobby Roode looked really good in the backstage segment with Traci (apparently being a raging misogynist comes easily to him). The video packages to build up Joe vs. Angle were pretty good, too. Not a bad show at all.
And while this was by no definition of the word "good," I marked out hard for the Don West hard sell segment for the house shows, prime time debut, and PPV. As the only Don West fan on the boards, I started to have flashbacks of him trying to sell me his "Gem Mint 10" Mark McGwire rookie cards so that Kenny on the phone could afford to have that kidney transplant he needed. Ahhh, good times ...
